What is Li’l Miss Vampire Can’t Suck Right About?
The anime is based on Kyōsuke Nishiki’s manga, which began serialization in Fujimi Shobo’s Monthly Dragon Age magazine in May 2021 and is set to conclude on August 8, 2025. Yen Press has licensed the manga for English publication.
The story centers on Luna Ishikawa, a seemingly mysterious and cool transfer student who is, in fact, a vampire. However, Luna harbors a secret: she’s terrible at sucking blood and struggles to live up to the vampiric hype. Her predicament is discovered by her classmate, Tatsuta Ōtori, who, instead of being repelled, offers to help her practice her blood-sucking skills by becoming her “Mama.” The series is described as a supernatural comedy that blends school life elements with its unique take on vampire lore, focusing on character-driven humor and Luna’s relatable struggles. The manga approaches the act of a vampire biting a human in a unique, almost parental way, where Ōtori helps Luna like a mother teaching a child to eat.
