The upcoming final season of the live-action series, “Zettai BL ni Naru Sekai vs Zettai BL ni Naritakunai Otoko Final” (A Man Who Defies the World of BL), has announced its theme song artists. The group moxymill will perform the song “Sugar×Bitter,” while harukaze record will provide “Yoru ni Mogutte” (Dive Into the Night) for the highly anticipated conclusion of the series. The final season is set to premiere on November 9 at 25:10 JST (effectively November 10 at 1:10 a.m.) on ABC TV in Japan’s Kansai region.

New Musical Talents for the Final Chapter

Fans can look forward to two distinct musical contributions to underscore the final season’s narrative. moxymill will deliver “Sugar×Bitter,” a title that hints at the bittersweet comedic and romantic entanglements the protagonist often finds himself in. Complementing this, harukaze record will perform “Yoru ni Mogutte,” which translates to “Dive Into the Night,” suggesting a deeper exploration of themes as the series reaches its climax. The announcement has generated excitement among the fanbase, eager to hear how these new tracks will enhance the quirky world of the series.

Premiere Details and Broadcast Milestone

The final season, officially titled Zettai BL ni Naru Sekai vs Zettai BL ni Naritakunai Otoko Final, marks a significant broadcast shift for the franchise. Unlike its predecessors, which were primarily available on premium subscription channels or streaming services, this season will debut and be serialized on over-the-air broadcast television via ABC TV in the Kansai region. This move is expected to make the series accessible to a broader audience in Japan. The premiere is scheduled for November 9 at 25:10 JST, which is effectively 1:10 a.m. on November 10.

Returning Cast and Creative Team

Several beloved cast members are reprising their roles for the finale. Atsuhiro Inukai returns as the main character, a college student trying to avoid the “BL flags” that constantly rise around him. Joining him are Yūtarō as Ayato, the protagonist’s younger brother; Asahi Itō as Kikuchi, a classmate; Akihisa Shiono as Tōjō; and Hayate Wada as the BL manga creator Mayama.

Behind the scenes, the creative team also sees familiar faces returning. Kōichirō Miki, who directed the first two seasons, is back at the helm for the final season. The scripts will once again be penned by Izumi Kawasaki, known for her work on previous installments. Erina Koyama is also credited for composing the music, having contributed to earlier seasons as well.

Adapting the Manga’s Conclusion

The live-action “A Man Who Defies the World of BL” series is an adaptation of Konkichi’s popular manga of the same name. This final season will specifically adapt the story found in the manga’s fifth compiled book volume, promising a faithful conclusion to the protagonist’s ongoing struggle against his BL-infused world.

The original manga, Zettai BL ni Naru Sekai vs Zettai BL ni Naritakunai Otoko, began serialization digitally in November 2018 on Pixiv Comic and the Manga Jam app.

Series Background and Previous Seasons

The live-action adaptation first premiered in March 2021 on the premium CS TV Asahi Channel 1. The story centers on a seemingly ordinary college student who suddenly realizes he lives in a “Boys’ Love (BL) world” where romantic scenarios between men are commonplace. Despite his preference for girls, he constantly finds himself as a “mob” character caught in various BL tropes and endeavors to avoid becoming a main character in one of these narratives.

The second season followed in March 2022, continuing the protagonist’s comedic journey. The third season, titled A Man Who Defies the World of BL 2024, debuted on the Lemino streaming service in April 2024. International streaming platforms like Viki and GagaOOLala have also made previous seasons available to global audiences.
