The popular light novel series “Love Unseen Beneath the Clear Night Sky” (Tōmei na Yoru ni Kakeru Kimi to, Me ni Mienai Koi wo Shita) by Nanigashi Shima and illustrated by raemz is set to receive both a television anime adaptation and a live-action television series. While details for the anime are forthcoming, the live-action series is slated to premiere on December 11 in Japan.

Live-Action Series to Debut in December

Fans of the romance-drama novel won’t have to wait long to see its characters brought to life. The live-action television series is scheduled to begin airing on December 11. It will be broadcast on MBS’ Drama Tokku programming block, and also shown on tvk, Chiba TV, and TV Saitama.

Riko Nagase has been cast in the role of Koharu Fuyutsuki, while Taiyu Fujiwara will portray Kakeru Mano. The series is being directed by Ryōma Kosasa. An international release for the live-action series has not yet been confirmed.

Anime Adaptation Details Forthcoming

While the live-action series has a concrete premiere date, further information regarding the television anime adaptation, including its broadcast schedule and production staff, will be announced by SB Creative at a later date. The dual adaptation underscores the growing popularity and critical acclaim of the light novel series.

A Story of Love and Connection Beyond Sight

“Love Unseen Beneath the Clear Night Sky” tells the poignant story of university student Kakero Mano (also referred to as Kakeru Sorano in some descriptions) and his encounter with Koharu Fuyutsuki. Koharu is a vibrant and beautiful fellow student who, despite her blindness, approaches life with an unwavering spirit and determination.

Kakero, initially introverted, finds himself drawn to Koharu’s warmth and zest for life. He learns of her dream to witness fireworks one day, a seemingly impossible feat given her condition, which prompts him to look beyond the surface and consider new perspectives. The narrative explores their developing relationship as Kakero supports Koharu and, in turn, finds the courage to move forward in his own life.

Award-Winning Light Novel Series

The original light novel series, written by Nanigashi Shima with illustrations by raemz, began publication under SB Creative’s GA Bunko imprint in August 2023. It quickly garnered recognition, winning the grand prize at the GA Bunko Award in the same year. The novel also ranked #3 in the Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! 2024 guidebook’s overall category.

Yen Press is handling the English release of the novel, making the story accessible to a broader international audience. The first volume in English was released in January 2025. A manga adaptation, illustrated by Hat., also began serialization on Square Enix’s Manga Up! service in August 2024.
