The official staff for the anime adaptation of Asari Endō’s Magical Girl Raising Project Restart light novel series has released its inaugural promotional video and a new teaser visual. Additionally, the musical act Daisy×Daisy has been announced as performing the ending theme song, titled “ReMind.” The highly anticipated second season is slated for a 2026 premiere.
Diving into the “Restart” Narrative
Magical Girl Raising Project Restart continues the dark fantasy and survival action narrative established in the original series. The anime is an adaptation of the Restart light novel series, which is the second arc in the Magical Girl Raising Project universe. The first season, which aired in Japan from October to December 2016, adapted the initial light novel.
The premise revolves around a popular social game that grants a rare chance to become a real-life Magical Girl. However, this seemingly benevolent system quickly devolves into a deadly battle royale when a magical administrator fairy decides to halve the Magical Girl population, forcing the girls into a brutal struggle for survival against each other. The “Restart” arc introduces a new group of magical girls forced into a high-stakes challenge with a substantial reward, where alliances are fragile and betrayal is always a possibility.
First Promotional Video Highlights
The newly released promotional video offers fans a glimpse into the animation style and character designs for the upcoming season. While specific details about the video’s content are eagerly awaited, it is expected to set the tone for the darker, more intense storyline of the Restart arc. Teaser visuals drawn by original character designer Maruino have also been unveiled, further building anticipation for the 2026 debut.
