The “Magilumiere Co. Ltd.” manga, penned by Sekka Iwata and illustrated by Yu Aoki, is set to conclude with its 160th chapter on July 8, 2025. This highly anticipated finale will bring the workplace magical girl narrative, which has captivated readers since its October 2021 debut on Shueisha’s Shōnen Jump+ service, to an end. The preceding chapter, 159, was released globally on July 1, 2025.
A Look Back at “Magilumiere Co. Ltd.”
Known in English as “Magilumiere Magical Girls Inc.” through its Viz Media release, the series has offered a unique blend of action and satire within the magical girl genre. The story centers on Kana Sakuragi, a recent college graduate struggling with job hunting, who unexpectedly finds herself recruited by Magilumiere, a startup company employing magical girls to combat mysterious creatures known as Kaii. Her journey alongside mentor Hitomi Koshigaya and other colleagues explored themes of personal growth, teamwork, and the mundane realities of an extraordinary profession.
The manga has been serialized digitally on Shueisha’s Manga Plus service and is also available in print through Viz Media in North America. As of June 2025, 17 tankōbon volumes have been released in Japan, with the 18th volume expected to collect chapters 152-160, covering the series’ conclusion.
The Anime’s Continuing Journey
Despite the manga’s impending conclusion, the “Magilumiere Co. Ltd.” universe will continue through its anime adaptation. An anime television series, produced by Moe and J.C.Staff, premiered in October 2024 and consisted of 12 episodes. The series was streamed globally by Amazon Prime Video. Notably, a second season of the anime is already in development, indicating a continued presence for the magical girl company on screen even as its original manga story wraps up. This divergence highlights a common trend in the industry where anime adaptations sometimes continue or expand upon a story after the manga’s conclusion.
