Manga creator Shino, author of the ongoing series “Boku to Gyaru ga Fūfu ni Naru Made” (also known as “Until the Gal and I Become a Married Couple”), passed away in June, Kadokawa’s Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh magazine announced on Wednesday. The publisher did not disclose the cause of death.
A Promising Career Cut Short
Shino’s death brings an untimely end to “Boku to Gyaru ga Fūfu ni Naru Made,” a romantic comedy manga that had been serialized in Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh since December 2022. The series gained a following for its engaging storyline, which centers on Saku Kanakura, a studious boy from a modest background, whose life takes an unexpected turn when a mysterious “gal” offers to clear his family’s massive debt under one unusual condition.
Kadokawa had published two compiled book volumes of the manga, with the first released in August 2023 and the second in September 2024. The series is now listed as discontinued due to the author’s passing.
Signs of Recent Activity
Reports indicate that Shino was actively engaged with their work and personal life shortly before their death. The manga artist was reportedly still drawing in mid-June. Their last public posts around the end of June mentioned excitement about visiting Akihabara and purchasing an air conditioner, suggesting their passing was sudden and unexpected.
The manga community mourns the loss of Shino, whose work had begun to capture the attention of readers with its unique blend of comedy, romance, and school life themes. The sudden discontinuation of “Boku to Gyaru ga Fūfu ni Naru Made” leaves an unfinished narrative, a common sadness in the manga industry when creators pass away unexpectedly.
