Manga Planet has officially announced the upcoming print release of two Boys’ Love (BL) manga titles, “Perfect Propose” by Mayo Tsurukame and “Try & I Love You” by echo. These popular series, previously available digitally on Manga Planet’s platform, will now be accessible to English-reading audiences in physical format under their BL-exclusive futekiya imprint.
Expanding the futekiya Print Lineup
The acquisition of print licenses for “Perfect Propose” and “Try & I Love You” marks a significant expansion for Manga Planet’s futekiya imprint, which focuses exclusively on Boys’ Love titles. This move allows fans who prefer physical copies to add these beloved series to their collections. Manga Planet has been actively expanding its print offerings, having previously announced and released other BL titles in print.
About “Perfect Propose” by Mayo Tsurukame
“Perfect Propose” is a romantic story that follows the lives of childhood friends who reconnect in adulthood. The manga centers on Hirokuni Watari, a burnt-out salaryman, and Kai Fukaya, his younger childhood friend, who unexpectedly re-enters his life. Kai, having nowhere to live, moves in with Hirokuni and begins to take care of him, cooking and cleaning, which gradually improves Hirokuni’s quality of life.
The series gained considerable recognition, placing 15th in Chil Chil’s 2021 BL Awards for “Best Comic.” Furthermore, “Perfect Propose” received a live-action adaptation in 2024, highlighting its popularity. The manga was originally serialized in the monthly Boys’ Love magazine Gush from May 2019 to July 2020.
About “Try & I Love You” by echo
“Try & I Love You” is another compelling love story by echo, focusing on the relationship between childhood friends who become adult roommates. The author, echo, has also been recognized in the BL community, placing 20th in Chil Chil’s 2020 BL Awards for “Best Up-and-Coming BL.”
Manga Planet and futekiya Imprint
Manga Planet, a service that translates and distributes Japanese manga globally, has been a key player in bringing officially licensed English-language manga to international readers. Established in 2012 as a joint project between FANTASISTA, INC. and Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd., Manga Planet initially focused on researching global manga readership.
In 2019, Manga Planet launched futekiya Library, a subscription service dedicated to Boys’ Love titles, alongside their multi-genre Manga Planet Library. In April 2023, both libraries were merged into a single Manga Planet platform, offering a comprehensive catalog of manga. The platform provides affordable access through subscription plans and also offers options to purchase or rent individual titles. This strategic move to release popular digital-first titles in print further solidifies Manga Planet’s commitment to catering to diverse reader preferences within the Boys’ Love genre.
