The popular action-romance comedy manga series, “Marriage Toxin,” by Jōmyaku and Mizuki Yoda, is officially receiving a TV anime adaptation slated for a 2026 release. The announcement was made today, revealing key staff, cast, and a teaser visual and trailer for the upcoming series.
Published by Shueisha, “Marriage Toxin” has garnered a significant following since its debut on the Shonen Jump+ app in April 2022. Viz Media also licenses the manga for English release.

An official website launched alongside the announcement, confirming that the anime will be produced by Studio BONES Film. This studio is known for its high-quality animation on series such as My Hero Academia and Fullmetal Alchemist.
Production Team
Motonobu Hori, known for his work on Metallic Rouge and Carole & Tuesday, is set to direct the “Marriage Toxin” anime. Kimiko Ueno, who worked on ZENSHU and Astro Note, will handle the series composition and script. The character designs and chief animation direction will be managed by Kohei Tokuoka, whose credits include The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity. The musical score will be composed by Taisei Iwasaki (BELLE) and Yuma Yamaguchi (Link Click, Metallic Rouge).
Main Cast
The primary voice cast members have also been unveiled:
- Haruki Ishiya will star as the protagonist, Hikaru Gero. Gero is depicted as an expert hitman specializing in poison, belonging to one of the five Great Families of “Poison Masters”. Despite his lethal skills, he has little experience with romance.
- Shion Wakayama will voice Mei Kinosaki. Mei is an accomplished marriage swindler who boasts the ability to charm anyone within 30 seconds.

The story centers around Hikaru Gero, an elite assassin from a lineage of “Poison Masters.” Due to his life in the shadows, he has no romantic experience and little interest in marriage. However, when his family declares that his sister will be forced to bear an heir to continue their bloodline, Hikaru vows to protect her.
Desperate to save his sister from this fate, Hikaru seeks assistance from Mei Kinosaki, a cunning marriage swindler who coincidentally becomes his latest assassination target.
