Fans of the hilariously overpowered Mash Burnedead can rejoice, as the “Mashle: Magic and Muscles” anime has officially confirmed its third season, slated to premiere in 2027. The announcement was made during the Jump Festa 2026 stage event on December 20, 2025, thrilling audiences with a teaser video, a new visual, and updated character designs.

What to Expect from “Mashle” Season 3: The Divine Visionary Selection Exam Arc

The upcoming third season is officially titled “The Divine Visionary Selection Exam Arc.” This arc will see Mash Burnedead, a magic-less boy in a world where magic reigns supreme, facing his ultimate trial. Having successfully navigated the Divine Visionary candidate selection exam alongside his allies, Mash must now conquer the final hurdles in his quest to become a Divine Visionary. The narrative promises an intense and suspense-filled journey as elite students from various magic academies gather for the final exam, with hints of assassins operating in the shadows and Mash confronting powerful new adversaries.

Production Details and Returning Talent

The newly released teaser video for Season 3 was screened exclusively at the Jump Festa 2026 venue, showcasing a dramatic atmosphere that aligns with the series’ unique world. Chiaki Kozumi, who previously worked as a sub character designer on “Solo Leveling,” is handling the character designs for the third season. Key voice cast members, including Chiaki Kobayashi as Mash, Reiji Kawashima as Finn, and Kaito Ishikawa as Lance, also appeared on stage during the announcement, where new character design visuals for their roles were unveiled.

The anime adaptation of Hajime Kōmoto’s popular manga series is produced by A-1 Pictures. Tomoya Tanaka directs the series, with scripts penned by Yōsuke Kuroda and music composed by Masaru Yokoyama.

A Look Back at “Mashle: Magic and Muscles” Seasons 1 and 2

“Mashle: Magic and Muscles” quickly became a fan favorite for its unique blend of fantasy action, absurd humor, and parody comedy. The story follows Mash Burnedead, a young man born without magic in a world where magical ability dictates social status and power. To live a peaceful life with his adoptive father, Mash enrolls in the prestigious Easton Magic Academy, determined to prove that muscles can overcome magic.

Season 1: The Introduction to Easton Magic Academy

The first season of “Mashle: Magic and Muscles” aired from April to July 2023, consisting of 12 episodes. It introduced audiences to Mash’s unique struggles and triumphs within the magic-centric school, establishing his reliance on superhuman physical strength to navigate magical challenges. The opening theme for the first season was “Knock Out” by Taiiku Okazaki, and the ending theme was “Cream Puff Funk” by The Dance for Philosophy.

Season 2: The Divine Visionary Candidate Exam Arc

The second season, titled “Mashle: Magic and Muscles – The Divine Visionary Candidate Exam Arc,” followed shortly after, broadcasting from January to March 2024, also with 12 episodes. This season further developed Mash’s journey as he participated in the demanding Divine Visionary candidate exams. The catchy opening theme, “Bling-Bang-Bang-Born” by Creepy Nuts, became a global phenomenon, significantly boosting the anime’s popularity. The ending theme for this season was “Tokyo’s Way!” performed by Shiritsu Ebisu Chugaku.

The Manga’s Journey and Continued Popularity

Hajime Kōmoto’s original “Mashle: Magic and Muscles” manga was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump from January 2020 to July 2023, concluding with 18 tankōbon volumes. The manga’s rapid popularity, driven by its inventive blend of comedic martial arts and magic, paved the way for its successful anime adaptation. Viz Media and MANGA Plus have licensed the manga for English release.

With the manga having concluded, the anime’s third season is expected to adapt the remaining arcs, bringing Mash’s unique story closer to its conclusion. The anticipation for “The Divine Visionary Selection Exam Arc” is high, as fans eagerly await more of Mash’s muscle-bound antics and his defiance of a magical world.
