The highly anticipated anime adaptation of Aki Akimoto’s romantic comedy manga, Mechanical Marie (Kikaijikake no Marie), has officially confirmed its premiere for October 2025, accompanied by the release of a second captivating trailer and the introduction of additional cast members. This latest wave of announcements builds upon previous revelations, significantly detailing the production and its imminent broadcast.

Diving into the New Trailer

The recently unveiled second trailer for Mechanical Marie provides fans with a deeper look into the anime’s visual style, comedic timing, and the dynamic between its peculiar protagonists. The footage offers further glimpses into Marie’s daily life as she navigates her challenging role, showcasing the balance between the lighthearted rom-com elements and the underlying tension of her secret identity. The trailer highlights the precarious situation of Marie, a highly skilled martial artist, as she endeavors to conceal her human nature while serving Arthur, a wealthy heir with a profound aversion to humanity. Viewers can anticipate scenes that underscore Arthur’s eccentric fondness for inanimate objects, a quirk that ironically puts Marie in even more awkward and humorous predicaments. The animation, handled by studios Zero-G and Liber, appears to bring Akimoto’s distinct art style to life with fluid motion and expressive character designs.

Expanding the Mechanical Marie Ensemble

The latest announcement introduces two significant additions to the Mechanical Marie voice cast, promising to enrich the anime’s character dynamics. Chiaki Kobayashi has been cast as Noah, while Ami Koshimizu will lend her voice to the character Marie-2. These new roles are expected to play pivotal parts in the unfolding narrative, complementing the established main cast.

Core Voice Cast Leads the Rom-Com

Previously confirmed to headline the series are Nao Toyama as the titular Marie and Haruki Ishiya as Arthur. Nao Toyama, known for her diverse roles, is set to portray Marie, a former genius martial artist who must maintain a stoic, emotionless facade to pretend she is a robot maid. Her character’s internal struggle and subtle emotional expressions are anticipated to be a highlight of her performance. Haruki Ishiya takes on the role of Arthur, the misanthropic scion who unexpectedly develops an attachment to his “mechanical” maid. Ishiya’s portrayal will capture Arthur’s complex personality, from his aversion to humans to his peculiar affections. Both voice actors have expressed their excitement for their roles, emphasizing the unique blend of comedy, romance, and underlying tension that defines Mechanical Marie.

Premiere Window and Production Details

The Mechanical Marie anime is officially slated for an October 2025 premiere, firmly placing it within the competitive Fall 2025 anime season. The production is a collaborative effort between animation studios Zero-G and Liber.

The creative team behind the adaptation features a lineup of experienced professionals:

  • Director: Junji Nishimura, known for his work on The Fire Hunter and Ranma ½, is at the helm, guiding the series’ overall vision.
  • Series Composition: Mariko Kunisawa, recognized for her contributions to BARTENDER Glass of God, is responsible for scripting the series and ensuring its narrative flow.
  • Character Design: Yoko Kikuchi, with credits including Twilight Out of Focus, adapts Aki Akimoto’s original character designs for animation.
  • Music: The score is a joint effort by Yasuharu Takanashi, celebrated for his work on Fairy Tail, and Johannes Nilsson, who contributed to Gushing over Magical Girls.

The Intriguing Premise of Mechanical Marie

The Mechanical Marie anime is based on Aki Akimoto’s popular romantic comedy manga, Kikaijikake no Marie. The original manga was initially a one-shot in March 2020 before being serialized in Hakusensha’s LaLa magazine from June 2020 to June 2023, concluding with six tankōbon volumes. A sequel manga, Mechanical Marie+ (Kikaijikake no Marie+), began serialization in April 2025.

The story centers on Marie, a human girl who, despite being a genius martial artist, finds herself working undercover as a “mechanical maid” for Arthur Louis Zetes. Arthur, the heir to a powerful conglomerate, harbors a deep distrust and disdain for humans, making Marie’s true identity a closely guarded secret. The twist in this rom-com lies in Arthur’s unexpected affection and doting nature towards inanimate objects, including what he believes to be his new mechanical maid. Marie’s mission to secretly protect Arthur from constant assassination attempts is complicated by his innocent, yet dangerously close, displays of affection, creating a daily mix of thrilling close calls and heartwarming moments. The narrative promises a unique blend of comedy and romance as the master-servant dynamic blossoms into an unexpected relationship.
