The official website for Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: A Lonely Dragon Wants to be Loved (Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon: Samishigariya no Ryū) anime film has unveiled its non-credit opening, additional cast members, and new visuals. The film premiered in Japan on June 27, 2025, with an advance screening held on May 26. Crunchyroll has secured the worldwide theatrical rights to the film, excluding Asia, and plans to screen it in North America with Japanese audio and English subtitles.
Non-Credit Opening and Theme Song
The non-credit opening features the theme song “Namida no Parade” (Parade of Tears), performed by fhána, who previously contributed to the television series.
Additional and Returning Cast
Several new voice actors have joined the cast for the film. Fumihiko Tachiki will voice Kimun Kamui, described as Kanna’s real father. Nobunaga Shimazaki is cast as Azad, a military strategist trusted even by violent dragons. Shiori Sugiura takes over the role of Ilulu, replacing Tomomi Mineuchi, who retired from voice acting in 2022. Additionally, Shinya Takahashi and Azusa Tadokoro are voicing fairies in the film.
Legendary enka singer Sachiko Kobayashi also joins the cast as Felicitas, the leader of the dragon army, and performs the film’s ending theme song, “Bokutachi no Hibi” (“Days of Us”).
The film sees the return of the main voice cast, including Mutsumi Tamura as Kobayashi, Yūki Kuwahara as Tohru, and Maria Naganawa as Kanna. Other returning cast members include Yūki Takada as Elma, Minami Takahashi as Lucoa, Daisuke Ono as Fafnir, Yūichi Nakamura as Makoto Takiya, Emiri Katō as Riko Saikawa, and Kaori Ishihara as Shōta Magatsuchi.
Visuals and Production
The official website and the film’s X (formerly Twitter) account have unveiled new visuals, including a collaboration visual by original manga creator Coolkyoushinja and character designer Miku Kadowaki. Eight character visuals, featuring both familiar characters and a new antagonist, were also revealed ahead of the film’s release.
Tatsuya Ishihara, who directed Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S, is directing the film. Yasuhiro Takemoto, the director of the first season, is credited posthumously as the series director. Yuka Yamada is handling the script, and Miku Kadowaki is serving as character designer and chief animation director. Kyoto Animation is in charge of the animation production. The film is screening in 199 theaters in Japan, with immersive 4DX and MX4D screenings available.
