Kyoto Animation has unveiled a new promotional video for “Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: A Lonely Dragon Wants to be Loved” (Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon: Samishigariya no Ryū), offering a thrilling glimpse into the film’s intense battle sequences. The highly anticipated anime film premiered in 199 theaters across Japan on Friday, June 27, 2025, including immersive 4DX and MX4D screenings.
A Deeper Dive into Dragon Combat
The newly released video emphasizes the film’s escalated focus on action, showcasing more expressive and flashier fight scenes compared to the television series. While the TV anime often balanced lighthearted slice-of-life moments with heavier themes, the movie reportedly leans more into the latter, expanding upon the franchise’s lore and combat. The narrative centers on Kanna’s story, as her father, Kimun Kamui, the leader of the Chaos Forces, compels her to return to the Dragon World to rectify a past error. This premise sets the stage for a brewing conflict between the Chaos and Harmony factions, forcing Kanna to navigate her loyalty between her friends and her father’s demands. Miss Kobayashi, however, is unwilling to let Kanna go, striving to mend the broken bond between Kanna and Kamui. Amidst the clashing dragons, Ilulu uncovers a hidden force orchestrating the war.
