What’s the New Spinoff About?
The My Dress-Up Darling spinoff, titled Bisque Doll de Chu (その着せ替え人形(ビスク・ドール)はchu♥, Sono Bisuku Dōru wa Chu), will focus on the everyday school life of the characters. The “chu” in the title is the onomatopoeia of a kissing noise in Japanese. The magazine teases, “a school life full of cuteness and chaos begins!”.
Who’s Working On It?
While Shinichi Fukuda, the original creator of My Dress-Up Darling, is involved, she’s not alone this time. Choboraunyopomi, known for the Ai-Mai-Mi series, is joining her for the new series. It’s unconfirmed how the two creators will collaborate. It is unknown if one will be the artist and the other the writer, or if they will share duties.
When Does It Come Out?
The first chapter of Bisque Doll de Chu was released in the first 2025 issue of Square Enix’s Young Gangan magazine on December 20, 2024.

My Dress-Up Darling: A Quick Look Back
My Dress-Up Darling is a manga series written and illustrated by Shinichi Fukuda. It began serialization in Young Gangan in January 2018 and ran until March 21, 2025. Square Enix had released 14 tankōbon volumes as of November 2024.
The series has become a hit, with over 10 million copies in circulation. My Dress-Up Darling has also inspired a popular anime series. The first season aired from January to March 2022. A second season is set to premiere in July 2025. A live-action television drama adaptation aired from October to December 2024.
The story follows Wakana Gojo, a high school student who dreams of becoming a kashirashi, a master craftsman of traditional Japanese Hina dolls. He feels like an outcast until he meets Marin Kitagawa, a popular and trendy girl with a secret hobby: cosplay. Marin asks Wakana to help her make cosplay costumes, which starts a relationship marked by comedy and romance.
