The upcoming “Me & Roboco” anime film is diving headfirst into the multiverse, bringing with it a host of new cast members and a healthy dose of “Fist of the North Star”-inspired action. Scheduled for release on April 18, 2025, the film is based on the popular comedy manga by Shuhei Miyazaki and promises an original story centered around the concept of “Multiverse Roboco.”

A Roboco for Every World

The film’s premise revolves around different versions of Roboco from various alternate realities. This opens the door for a diverse cast of voice actors to portray these unique iterations of the beloved character.

Stellar Voice Cast Assembles

Several prominent voice actors have been announced to play the “Multiverse Roboco” roles:

  • Masako Nozawa: Known for voicing iconic characters like Goku in “Dragon Ball,” Nozawa will lend her talents to a Roboco from the world of Showa-era comedy manga.
  • Shigeru Chiba: Chiba, recognized for his roles in numerous anime, will voice a Roboco hailing from a world of full-scale sci-fi action.
  • Mayumi Tanaka: Already announced in December 2024, Tanaka, the voice of Luffy in “One Piece,” will portray a Roboco from a “straightforward battle world line,” channeling a Luffy-like energy.
  • Sumire Uesaka: Uesaka will tackle two roles, voicing a Roboco from a serious sci-fi action setting and another from a romantic comedy world.
  • Shun Matsuo: From the comedy duo “Chocolate Planet,” Matsuo will also be voicing a Roboco.

This ensemble cast suggests a wide range of comedic and action-oriented scenarios within the film’s multiverse storyline.

Cast Comments

The newly announced cast members have expressed their enthusiasm for the project. Shigeru Chiba humorously pondered his role, stating he was delighted to play the full-scale sci-fi Roboco, comparing the feeling to discovering “mustard lotus root” on a Venus cafe menu. He encouraged viewers to immerse themselves in the gag-filled chaos of the film.

Sumire Uesaka shared her excitement about playing a Roboco from a romantic comedy world, remarking on how cute the character is and how she embodies the elements of a romantic comedy heroine. She also revealed she had previously auditioned for the role of Roboco in the anime version, making this opportunity particularly joyful.

Returning Cast

The main voice cast from the anime series is also expected to reprise their roles, including:

  • Minami Tsuda as Bondo.
  • Ryotaro Okiayu as Gachi-Gorilla.
  • Shunsuke Takeuchi as Motsuo.
  • M.A.O as Madoka.
  • Kotono Mitsuishi as Bondo’s mother.

Fist of the North Star Homage

Adding to the excitement, a promotional video has been released that pays homage to the classic manga and anime series, “Fist of the North Star”.

Video Details

The video showcases the sci-fi action version of Roboco voiced by Shigeru Chiba. This promo highlights Roboco’s action capabilities within a world referencing “Fist of the North Star”.

Fist of the North Star: A Cultural Icon

“Fist of the North Star,” which began serialization in Weekly Shōnen Jump on September 13, 1983, is celebrating its 40th anniversary. The series is set in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by nuclear war, where martial arts determine survival. The series is known for its hyper-violence and over-the-top action.

What to Expect

The “Me & Roboco” film promises to be a wild ride through the multiverse, blending comedy with action and paying tribute to iconic series like “Fist of the North Star.” With a star-studded voice cast and an intriguing storyline, the film is sure to entertain fans of the manga and anime.
