The highly anticipated TV anime adaptation of Makoto Kudo’s romantic comedy manga, “My Awkward Senpai” (Bukiyō na Senpai.), has released its main promotional video, revealing additional cast members, key staff, and the opening theme song, alongside confirming an October 2025 debut. The series is set to air on Tokyo MX and BS NTV, among other networks.
The new trailer offers a glimpse into the workplace romance, highlighting the dynamic between the clumsy yet endearing senpai, Azusa Kannawa, and her new kouhai, Yu Kamegawa.
Expanded Cast and Their Roles
The latest announcement introduces three new voice cast members who will bring more of the manga’s charming characters to life. Lynn was previously confirmed to voice the main heroine, Azusa Kannawa.
Newly announced cast members include:
- Shogo Sakata as Yu Kamegawa
- Ami Maeshima as Miho Hotta
- Mitsuki Saiga as Ritsu Kankaiji
Production Team Details
Studio Elle is handling the animation production for “My Awkward Senpai”. The main staff behind the series includes:
- Director: Ayumu Kotake (known for Acro Trip)
- Series Composition & Scriptwriter: Mio Inoue (involved with Slow Start)
- Character Designs: Kenro Tokuda
- Music Composition: Kōji Fujimoto (Sus4 Inc.)
Additional newly announced staff members contributing to the anime’s visual and artistic direction include Nozomi Goto and Akira Oono as Prop Designers, and Kenro Tokuda, Akira Ono, Reina Yamauchi, and Yumiko Mizuno as Chief Animation Directors. Art setting will be handled by Jun Osano, Takashi Yamanaka, Noriko Tsutsui, Junya Nishihara, and Yu-nit. Yusuke Watanabe is the Color Designer, and Hiroshi Goroku serves as the Art Director.
Opening Theme Song Revealed
The promotional video also unveiled and previewed the anime’s opening theme song, titled “Bukiyō na I love you” (The Awkward I love you), performed by the musical duo angela.
October 2025 Premiere Confirmed
“My Awkward Senpai” is officially slated to premiere in October 2025. The series will broadcast on Tokyo MX and BS NTV. An exact premiere date within October has yet to be announced.
The anime adaptation is based on Makoto Kudo’s romantic comedy manga, which began as a webcomic in March 2019 before being serialized in Square Enix’s Young Gangan magazine in December 2019. The manga is published in English by Comikey and through Square Enix’s Manga UP!
