The highly anticipated second season of the anime series My Dress-Up Darling (Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru) has announced the addition of Maki Kawase and Mayuko Kazama to its voice cast. The two new cast members will debut in episode 20 of the ongoing season, which premiered on July 5, 2025.
Kawase will lend her voice to Asahi Ogata, a friend of the character Suzuka who is deeply interested in creating cosplay props. Kazama will portray Miyako Honda, an experienced cosplayer and also a friend of Suzuka.
New Talents Join the My Dress-Up Darling Ensemble
The casting announcement, made on August 23, 2025, introduces fresh voices to the popular romantic comedy series. Maki Kawase, known for her roles in various anime, will bring Asahi Ogata to life. Asahi is described as Suzuka’s friend with a passion for cosplay prop making. Kawase expressed her delight in joining the cast, hinting at the depth of Asahi’s character and her interactions with the main duo, Marin and Gojo.
Mayuko Kazama steps into the role of Miyako Honda, an established cosplayer and another acquaintance of Suzuka. Kazama highlighted Miyako’s cheerful demeanor and her enthusiasm for hobbies such as stuffed animal activities, cosplay, and idols. She noted that her acting naturally adopted a cheerful mood during recording, encouraging viewers to watch how the adult characters, including Miyako and Asahi, will influence the story alongside Suzuka.
The two new characters, Asahi Ogata and Miyako Honda, will be introduced in episode 20 of My Dress-Up Darling Season 2.
Season 2 Continues the Cosplay Romance
My Dress-Up Darling Season 2 officially premiered on July 5, 2025, effectively July 6 at midnight JST, airing on channels like Tokyo MX, BS11, Tochigi TV, and Gunma TV. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime as it airs, making it accessible to international audiences.
The second season sees the return of the main voice cast, with Hina Suguta as Marin Kitagawa and Shoya Ishige as Wakana Gojo. Other returning cast members include Atsumi Tanezaki as Sajuna Inui and Hina Youmiya as Shinju Inui. The main staff from the first season also reprised their roles, with Keisuke Shinohara directing at Studio CloverWorks, Yoriko Tomita handling series composition, and Kazumasa Ishida and Yusuke Yamamoto as character designers. Takeshi Nakatsuka is once again composing the music.
The anime is an adaptation of Shinichi Fukuda’s manga series, which concluded its serialization in March 2025 with 15 volumes. The manga has surpassed 14 million copies in circulation. The story follows Wakana Gojo, a high school boy with a passion for crafting traditional Hina dolls, whose life intertwines with the popular and outgoing gyaru Marin Kitagawa, who has a secret love for cosplay. Their collaboration sees Gojo making intricate cosplay outfits for Marin, deepening their bond as they navigate the world of cosplay.
The first season of My Dress-Up Darling aired from January to March 2022 and quickly gained a dedicated fanbase, with Marin Kitagawa and Wakana Gojo earning accolades as Best Girl and Best Boy in various fan polls. The success of the anime also led to a live-action series adaptation, which premiered in Japan in October 2024.
