Nene Yukimori, the acclaimed manga artist behind “Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible,” has launched a new manga series titled “Osananananajimi” on July 3. The new work began serialization in the 30th issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump magazine.
“Osananananajimi” translates to a word related to “childhood friendship” or “my friend,” and the series is described as a childhood friend romance. The story focuses on Yūichi Momose and Sumi Fujino, who were inseparable as children. However, despite now being high school classmates, a noticeable distance has grown between them. The narrative takes a turn when Sumi unexpectedly arrives at Yūichi’s house.
Yukimori’s previous work, “Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible,” was serialized in Weekly Young Jump from October 2019 to March 2023, with an epilogue chapter published in April 2023. That series also received a television anime adaptation that premiered in January 2023. The success of “Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible” has generated anticipation for Yukimori’s new romantic comedy.
