What to Expect from Assassination Classroom the Movie: Everyone’s Time
Titled Gekijoban Ansatsu Kyoshitsu: Minna no Jikan, the film is slated to premiere in Japanese theaters on March 20, 2026. It is being directed by Masaki Kitamura at Studio Lerche, the animation house behind the original series. Makoto Uezu, who penned the script for the TV anime, returns as the scriptwriter, with Aya Higami handling character designs.
The movie is not merely a compilation or a celebratory project; according to original manga author Yūsei Matsui, it will delve into a full collection of episodes from the manga that were previously unadapted due to time constraints during the TV anime’s run. Matsui has also stated that the film is a continuation of the main story, promising new narrative developments for viewers.
A Decade of Assassination Classroom
The Assassination Classroom manga by Yūsei Matsui was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2012 to 2016. It inspired a 22-episode television anime series in 2015, followed by a 25-episode second season in 2016. The franchise also includes a previous anime film, Assassination Classroom the Movie: 365 Days, released in November 2016, which summarized the anime series, and two live-action films.
The series follows the students of Class 3-E at Kunugigaoka Junior High, who are given the extraordinary assignment of assassinating their powerful, tentacled homeroom teacher, Korosensei, before he destroys Earth. The film aims to offer a deeper dive into characters and plotlines that loyal manga readers have cherished but anime-only fans have yet to experience.
