Kyoto Animation has released a new promotional video for the highly anticipated film, Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: A Lonely Dragon Wants to be Loved (Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon: Samishigariya no Ryū), with the video prominently featuring the movie’s battle scenes. The film is set to open in Japan on Friday, June 27, in 199 theaters, and will offer immersive 4DX and MX4D screenings. An advance screening of the film was held in Japan on May 26.

Crunchyroll has acquired the worldwide (excluding Asia) theatrical rights for the film and plans to screen it in North America in Japanese with English subtitles.

Film Details and Cast

The movie serves as a continuation of the beloved slice-of-life fantasy established in the original anime and manga. The film’s narrative will delve into deeper emotions, focusing on themes of family and relationships.

Returning cast members include Mutsumi Tamura as Kobayashi, Yūki Kuwahara as Tohru, and Maria Naganawa as Kanna. Other returning voice actors feature Yūki Takada as Elma, Minami Takahashi as Lucoa, Daisuke Ono as Fafnir, Yūichi Nakamura as Makoto Takiya, Emiri Katō as Riko Saikawa, and Kaori Ishihara as Shōta Magatsuchi.

New additions to the voice cast include Fumihiko Tachiki as Kimun Kamui and Nobunaga Shimazaki as Azad. Shiori Sugiura will be voicing Ilulu in the film, replacing Tomomi Mineuchi.

Musical Contributions

The film’s soundtrack features “Namida no Parade” (Parade of Tears) by fhána as the opening theme song. Kotringo performs the insert song “Negaigoto” (Wish), while Sachiko Kobayashi contributes the ending theme song “Bokutachi no Hibi” (Our Days).
