The highly anticipated “New Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt” anime has announced that Yoshino Aoyama has joined its cast, taking on the role of Gunsmith Bitch. The new series, a revival of the cult classic, premiered its censored version on July 10, 2025, on various Japanese television channels, with an uncensored version following on AT-X on July 15, 2025.
Yoshino Aoyama Joins the Anarchy
Yoshino Aoyama will voice the character Gunsmith Bitch, an underwear arms dealer, who is set to appear in the sixth episode of the “New Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt” anime. Aoyama is known for her roles as Hitori Gotō in Bocchi the Rock! and Gurumin in Pokémon Horizons.
Revival of a Cult Classic
“New Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt” marks the return of the beloved and infamously raunchy anime series after a 15-year hiatus. The original series, produced by Gainax, first aired from October to December 2010. Studio Trigger, founded by former Gainax staff, acquired the rights to the Panty & Stocking IP from Gainax in 2023 and has taken over production of the new season.
Key Creative Team Returns
Many of the original creative minds behind the 2010 series have returned for the new installment. Hiroyuki Imaishi is back as the series director and is also handling series composition alongside Hiromi Wakabayashi. Atsushi Nishigori is credited with the original character designs, with Shigeto Koyama, SUSHiO, and Masaru Sakamoto serving as character designers. ☆Taku Takahashi is also returning as the music producer.
Story and Setting
The series continues to follow the “Anarchy sisters,” Panty and Stocking, two angels who were expelled from Heaven due to their misbehavior. They reside in Daten City, a chaotic locale situated between Heaven and Hell, where they battle evil spirits known as “Ghosts.” These Ghosts prey on human desires and resentment. The sisters’ mission is to eradicate these malicious entities by transforming their lingerie into weapons, earning “Heaven Coins” in hopes of one day buying their way back into Heaven. The new season promises to maintain the series’ signature “vulgar and indecent jokes,” explicit themes, and Western cartoon-inspired animation style.
Premiere and Streaming
The world premiere event for “New Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt” was held at Anime Expo 2025 on July 4, 2025, commemorating the 15th anniversary of the original series. The censored version of the anime began its broadcast in Japan on July 10, 2025, across various networks including Tokyo MX and BS NTV. The uncensored version commenced streaming on AT-X on July 15, 2025. Amazon Prime Video has licensed the second series for a global streaming release.
New Characters Introduced
In addition to returning characters, the new season introduces new angel characters. These include the angel brothers Polyester, voiced by Junya Enoki, and Polyurethane, voiced by Yuto Uemura. Akeno Watanabe has replaced Ayumi Fujimura as Kneesocks, and Yuko Natsuyoshi has replaced Miki Makiguchi as Fastener.
