A new promotional video for the highly anticipated second season of the Ranma 1/2 anime has been released, offering fans a glimpse into the upcoming martial arts comedy and a preview of its opening theme song. The series is slated to debut exclusively on Netflix on October 4.

Catch a Glimpse: Second Season Trailer and Opening Theme

The recently unveiled promotional video highlights exciting new sequences from the anime’s second season, building anticipation for the return of the beloved gender-bending martial artist. Central to the video is the first listen of the new opening theme song, “Wo Ai Ni” (meaning “I Love You”), performed by Wednesday Campanella. This comes after the first season featured “Iinazukekkyun” by ano. The video not only showcases the vibrant animation by Studio MAPPA but also hints at the chaotic adventures and romantic entanglements that await Ranma Saotome and the eccentric cast of characters.

“Wo Ai Ni” by Wednesday Campanella

Wednesday Campanella, known for their distinctive musical style, takes the helm for the second season’s opening theme, “Wo Ai Ni”. The choice of artist and song is a fresh direction for the new adaptation, aiming to capture the series’ unique blend of action, humor, and romance. Additionally, Nishina will perform the new ending theme song for the second season, titled “Panda Girl.”

Premiere Date and Streaming Platform

The second season of the new Ranma 1/2 anime is officially set to premiere on October 4, 2025. Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, the series will be available for streaming exclusively on Netflix, ensuring a global reach for Rumiko Takahashi’s classic tale. This arrangement allows fans worldwide to follow Ranma’s continuing adventures immediately after their broadcast in Japan.

Returning and New Voice Talent Joins the Fray

The second season will see the return of key voice actors, including Kappei Yamaguchi as male Ranma and Megumi Hayashibara as female Ranma, alongside Noriko Hidaka as Akane Tendo. However, the new season is also introducing fresh voices to iconic roles and new characters to the adaptation. Notably, Cho will take over as Genma Saotome, and Akio Otsuka will voice Soun Tendo. Kenichi Ogata will assume the role of the Narrator.

Fans will also be thrilled to hear that several fan-favorite characters are making their debut in this adaptation with a new voice cast, including:

  • Toshihiko Seki as Mousse
  • Kaori Nazuka as Ukyo Kuonji
  • Kazuhiko Inoue as Happosai
  • Mayama Ako as Cologne
  • Akira Ishida as Hikaru Gosunkugi

Key Staff Behind the Production

Studio MAPPA, renowned for its high-quality animation, continues to helm the production of the Ranma 1/2 remake. The creative team behind the first season largely remains intact, with Konosuke Uda directing the series. Kimiko Ueno is in charge of series composition, Hiromi Taniguchi handles the character designs, and Kaoru Wada returns to compose the music, ensuring continuity in the anime’s distinctive style and atmosphere.

The Enduring Legacy of Ranma 1/2

Rumiko Takahashi’s original Ranma 1/2 manga, which ran from 1987 to 1996 in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday, remains a cornerstone of romantic comedy and martial arts genres. The new anime adaptation, often referred to as a remake, aims to faithfully bring Takahashi’s work to a new generation of viewers while satisfying long-time fans with its modern animation and dynamic storytelling. The premise follows Ranma Saotome, a martial artist cursed to transform into a girl when splashed with cold water and back into a boy with hot water, leading to endless comedic situations, intense battles, and complicated romantic relationships. The continuation of this beloved story with a new season underscores its lasting appeal and influence on the anime landscape.
