The upcoming anime adaptation of Observation Records of My Fiancée: The Misadventures of a Self-Proclaimed Villainess has unveiled new visuals, offering fans a glimpse at its lead characters, Bertia and Cecil, and confirming their respective voice actors. The romantic fantasy series is slated to premiere in 2026.
A First Look at Bertia and Cecil
Recent updates from the anime’s official channels have highlighted the core duo of the series. Bertia, the self-proclaimed villainess, and Prince Cecil, her astute fiancé, are at the heart of the story. The visuals showcase their designs, staying true to the aesthetic established in the original light novel and manga.
Miyu Tomita is confirmed to voice the energetic protagonist, Bertia. Tomita is known for her roles as Riko in Made in Abyss and has garnered praise for her expressive performances. Opposite her, Yusuke Kobayashi will lend his voice to Prince Cecil, a character described as a natural genius who finds his life anything but mundane after meeting Bertia. Kobayashi’s previous works include Arthur Boyle in Fire Force.
The Story of a Self-Proclaimed Villainess
The anime is based on the popular light novel series penned by Shiki and illustrated by Wan Hachipisu. The narrative follows Bertia, who, upon realizing she has been reincarnated into an otome game as the villainess, sets out to fulfill her role by committing various “evil deeds” in hopes of having her engagement to Prince Cecil annulled.
However, Bertia’s attempts at villainy often backfire, appearing more endearing and kind-hearted to Cecil. The series is primarily told through Cecil’s observations of his unwittingly charming fiancée, providing a humorous and heartwarming perspective on her misguided efforts.
Production Team and Release Window

The anime is scheduled for a 2026 release, though a specific premiere date has yet to be announced. Hanashi Media publishes the official English version of the original light novels digitally.
