WWWave Corporation’s new anime streaming platform, OceanVeil, announced a strategic partnership with Japanese production company Softgarage on Thursday, October 23, 2025, to bring nine retro anime titles from the 1990s and early 2000s to its subscribers. Most of the newly licensed titles are available for streaming immediately, offering fans a dive into classic and, in some cases, previously unreleased anime outside of Japan.
A Deep Dive into Retro Anime Offerings
The collaboration aims to unearth “treasures” from past decades, making them accessible to a new generation of viewers and nostalgic fans alike. These titles often disappeared due to time or complex licensing issues. Softgarage, established in 1989, is known for producing anime, games, and various character goods, with a history in original video animations (OVAs) and television series.
OceanVeil emphasizes its commitment to showcasing titles that have yet to receive an official worldwide release. This partnership aligns with OceanVeil’s broader strategy since its launch in February 2025 to offer a diverse library, including adult and mature anime, alongside more mainstream content.
