Understanding the Plot of ‘The Perfect Prince Loves Me, the Side Character?!’
The anime, originally titled Ateuma Chara no Kuse Shite, Spadali Ōji ni Chōai Saremasu. (also known as The Perfect Prince Loves Me, His Rival?! in Japanese), tells the story of Loneal, who finds himself reincarnated into the world of a novel called The Silver Prince and the Holy Bride. As a side character in this new world, Loneal’s primary goal is to avoid interfering with the main storyline between Prince Alec, the hero, and Lily, the heroine. However, to his surprise, Prince Alec becomes infatuated with him instead of Lily, diverting from the original plot. The series explores Loneal’s predicament as he tries to navigate this unexpected turn of events, questioning why everything is so different from the novel.
The anime adaptation of Ao Yūki’s manga began streaming in March 2024 and aired on Tokyo MX and BS11 in April 2024. Like many AnimeFesta productions, it has both a censored “broadcast” version for television and an uncensored “premium” version distributed online. The manga itself has been serialized digitally since August 2022.
