The popular yuri manga series, Does It Count If You Lose Your Virginity to an Android? (Japanese: アンドロイドは経験人数に入りますか??, Hepburn: Androido wa Keiken Ninzuu ni Hairimasu ka??), is set to receive a short-form anime television series adaptation in 2026. The announcement was made on May 13, 2025, exciting fans of the manga and the yuri genre.
What’s the Story About?
Does It Count If You Lose Your Virginity to an Android? is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yakinikuteishoku. The story revolves around Akane Tsuda, a 28-year-old office worker who appears to have it all together at work. She’s admired for being beautiful, brainy, and an indispensable employee at a robotics manufacturer. However, her colleagues don’t see her private side.
In reality, Akane’s home life is a mess. Her apartment is more like a landfill than a living space, she has a bad drinking habit, and she’s never had a boyfriend. One day, in a fit of drunkenness and loneliness, she drunkenly orders an android for sexual purposes named Nadeko.
The next day, Akane is mortified by her purchase. She realizes she can’t return Nadeko or tell her co-workers, as it could cost her her job. Thus begins an unusual cohabitation between Akane and Nadeko. Nadeshiko, the lady android, is a “horny hottie” who is about to give Akane more service than she bargained for.
What to Expect from the Anime
The anime adaptation will be a short-form series produced under WWWave Corporation’s Deregula anime label. This label is known for other anime such as Makina-san’s a Love Bot?!, Yandere Dark Elf, and the upcoming Hitozuma no Kuchibiru. The Does It Count If You Lose Your Virginity to an Android? anime is scheduled to premiere in 2026.
A key visual has already been released, offering a glimpse of what the anime will look like. Yakinikuteishoku, the manga’s author, also created a special illustration and comment to celebrate the anime adaptation: ““Does It Count If You Lose Your Virginity to an Android?” is getting an anime adaptation! When I first got the news, I was completely caught off guard — it felt like it came out of nowhere! But now that it’s sinking in, I’m genuinely excited to see Akane and Nadeshiko moving and speaking on screen. To everyone who’s been reading the series, I’d be so happy if you’d look forward to the anime with me! It’ll be a little while before it actually airs, but I’ll be doing my best to keep the excitement going as we head toward the premiere. Thank you so much for your continued support!”.
