Fans eager to feast on the anime adaptation of “Pass the Monster Meat, Milady!” will have to wait a bit longer. The production committee announced that the premiere has been delayed from its originally slated April 2025 release to October 2025.
“Various Circumstances” Cited for Delay
In a statement posted on the anime’s official X (formerly Twitter) account on January 24, 2025, the production committee cited “various circumstances” as the reason for the delay. While the specific reasons weren’t elaborated upon, the statement included an apology to fans anticipating the anime’s release.
The announcement reads, “The TV anime Pass the Monster Meat, Milady! which was scheduled to air in April 2025, will now be postponed and is set to air in October 2025 due to various circumstances. We sincerely apologise to everyone who has been looking forward to the broadcast. The staff and production committee are working hard to create a great anime, so we kindly ask for your patience for a little longer.”
Production Issues Loom?
The lack of specific details surrounding the delay has led to speculation among fans, with many suspecting production issues. Some point to the fact that, despite the initial April 2025 premiere announcement, key details about the anime’s production, such as the animation studio and staff, have remained unconfirmed until now. The anime was announced in October 2024, but key production details are still unknown.
One Reddit user commented, “This is just an euphemism for production issues, isn’t it? Something else that has me worried for this anime is the fact that almost nothing has been shared about the project so far. We haven’t been shown any promotional material of the actual anime nor do we know anything about the studio or staff involved.”
Smart Move or Cause for Concern?
Despite the disappointment of the delay, some believe it’s a prudent decision to ensure the anime’s quality. Airing an incomplete anime can lead to rushed production, delayed episodes, and strain on both the production team and viewers. Taking the time to properly prepare the anime may result in a better final product.
What is ‘Pass the Monster Meat, Milady!’ About?
Pass the Monster Meat, Milady! (Japanese title: Akujiki Reijō to Kyōketsu Kōshaku: Sono Mamono, Watashi ga Oishiku Itadakimasu!) is a fantasy romance light novel series written by Kanata Hoshi and illustrated by Peperon. She meets Aristide Roger de Galbraith, the “Blood-Mad Duke,” and their relationship blossoms amidst battles and gourmet adventures.
The light novel series began serialization online in November 2019 on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website. Kodansha later acquired it, publishing three volumes under their Kodansha Ranobe Books f imprint since April 2021. A manga adaptation, illustrated by Chika Mizube, has been serialized on Kodansha’s Palcy website since March 2021, with nine volumes released. Kodansha USA Publishing releases the manga in English.
