The original manga, “Petals of Reincarnation,” centers on Tōya Senji, a seemingly talentless high school student who discovers that true talent isn’t developed but inherited from past lives. This inheritance is made possible through the mysterious “Stem of Reincarnation,” which allows individuals to access the abilities of historical figures and even notorious criminals by self-inflicting death. Tōya’s journey begins when he encounters Haito Luo Buffett, a “Returner” who has gained the skills of the legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi. He soon learns that many other Returners exist, each with their own ambitious plans for their newfound talents.
