The upcoming anime adaptation of mamakari’s popular manga series, Plus-Sized Misadventures in Love! (Debu to Love to Ayamachi to!), has released its latest promotional video, revealing additional cast members and the much-anticipated opening theme song. The new preview further builds excitement for the romantic comedy, which is set to premiere on October 6.
Fans can now look forward to a vibrant new opening theme titled “Happy Yummy Lucky Yummy,” performed by GANG PARADE. This latest announcement also expands the previously revealed cast, introducing new voices to the endearing story of Yumeko Kōda.
Expanding the World of Plus-Sized Misadventures in Love! with New Voice Talents
The new promotional video confirms several key additions to the anime’s voice cast, bringing more beloved characters to life. Akari Kito will lend her voice to Saki Tamai, while Tomokazu Sugita joins as Hiroki Maezono. Rounding out the new announcements are Takuya Eguchi as Yutaka Shigemori and Eiji Takeuchi as Masahiko Hosoi.

Theme Song Details: A Catchy Opening and a Familiar Ending
While GANG PARADE takes the reins for the new opening theme, “Happy Yummy Lucky Yummy,” the ending theme, “Watashi de Yokatta!!!” (I’m Glad It’s Me!!!), will be performed by Yūma Uchida, who also voices the character Keisuke Yūki. Both songs are expected to perfectly complement the anime’s blend of romantic comedy and self-discovery.

Plus-Sized Misadventures in Love! follows Yumeko Kōda, a woman burdened by insecurities about her appearance. After a mysterious accident, she awakens with a completely transformed, hyper-positive and self-confident personality. This drastic change not only alters her own perception but also begins to positively influence those around her. The story promises a frenzied romantic comedy filled with love, work, friendship, and even an attempted murder case, ensuring a bubbling energy throughout.
The manga, written and illustrated by mamakari, began serialization in 2019 and is digitally published in English by NTT Solmare’s MangaPlaza service. The series has garnered a dedicated following, leading to a live-action adaptation in November 2022 and now its highly anticipated anime debut.

The anime is being produced by Marvy Jack, with Kazuomi Koga (known for Rent-A-Girlfriend) directing the series. Aya Watatane is handling the screenplay and series composition, while Atsuko Takahashi is responsible for character designs. The music is being composed by Satoshi Hōno and Kaori Nakano.
