The “light anime” adaptation of Akira Iwafune’s fantasy light novel series, Potion, Waga Mi o Tasukeru (Potions Will Save Me), is officially set to premiere on October 2. The announcement was accompanied by the release of a teaser trailer, building anticipation for the upcoming series.
What is ‘Potion, Waga Mi o Tasukeru’?
Potion, Waga Mi o Tasukeru is an isekai fantasy story that originated as a web novel on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in April 2014, concluding in September 2024. Shufunotomo later began publishing the print light novel series in April 2015 with illustrations by Sunaho Tobe, releasing 10 volumes as of September 2024. A manga adaptation, also illustrated by Tobe, launched in September 2023.
The narrative follows Kaede, an ordinary high school girl who suddenly finds herself transported to a mysterious world inhabited by beastmen, elves, and dragons. In this unfamiliar realm, she discovers a peculiar book that grants her the ability to create potions simply by chanting “Create.” Kaede must then rely on these magical concoctions to navigate her new surroundings and hopes to eventually find a way back to Japan.
The ‘Light Anime’ Format
The anime adaptation is part of Animation ID’s “light anime” series, which employs a simpler animation style to reduce production time and costs. This format has been used for other titles such as Moriarty’s Perfect Crime, Maarui Kanojo to Zannen na Kareshi, Lockdown Zone: Level X, and With Vengeance, Sincerely, Your Broken Saintess.
Key Staff and Cast
Mikiko Furukawa, known for directing Moriarty’s Perfect Crime, is helming the Potion, Waga Mi o Tasukeru light anime. Imagica Infos and Imageworks Studio are co-working on the animation production, with Studio KAIBA credited for animation assistance. Yuichi Imaizumi serves as the sound director, and bermei.inazawa is composing the music. Kazuya Takahashi is credited for production supervision.
