The upcoming “light anime” adaptation of Akira Iwafune’s novel series Potion, Waga Mi o Tasukeru (Potions Will Save Me) has officially revealed its main cast. The announcement confirms Kaede Hondo in the leading role of Kaede and Takeo Ōtsuka as Asuru, a dragon hunter. The series is slated to premiere on television in October.

The primary voice actors bringing the fantastical world of Potion, Waga Mi o Tasukeru to life have been announced by Animation ID, the production label behind the series.
- Kaede Hondo as Kaede: Hondo will voice the protagonist, a normal high school girl who finds herself unexpectedly transported to a fantasy realm.
- Takeo Ōtsuka as Asuru: Ōtsuka is cast as Asuru, a dragon hunter in this new world.
About ‘Potion, Waga Mi o Tasukeru’
The Potion, Waga Mi o Tasukeru anime is classified as a “light anime,” a format characterized by a simpler animation style designed to reduce production time and costs. This approach has been utilized by Animation ID for other titles such as Lockdown Zone: Level X and Moriarty’s Perfect Crime.
The story follows Kaede, an ordinary high school girl who is suddenly reincarnated into a fantasy world populated by beastkin, elves, and dragons. After a day of wandering, she discovers a mysterious book in her bag that allows her to craft potions simply by gathering materials and chanting “Create”. Kaede intends to leverage this newfound power to navigate her way through this unfamiliar world, with the ultimate goal of finding a way back to Japan.
Mikiko Furukawa, known for her work on Moriarty’s Perfect Crime, is directing the anime at IMAGICA Infos and Imageworks Studio, with animation assistance from Studio KAIBA. Yūichi Imaizumi serves as the sound director, bermei.inazawa is composing the music, and Kazuya Takahashi is credited for production supervision. The original novel series by Akira Iwafune was serialized on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website from April 2014 to September 2024, with a manga adaptation also in circulation.
