The upcoming “light anime” adaptation of Akira Iwafune’s fantasy light novel series Potion, Waga Mi o Tasukeru (Potions Will Save Me) has announced the addition of three new cast members: Yū Kobayashi, Miharu Hanai, and Yurika Moriyama. The series is set to premiere on October 2, 2025, on Tokyo MX.
These new additions join the previously announced main cast, with Kaede Hondo starring as the protagonist Kaede and Takeo Ōtsuka voicing the dragon hunter Asuru.

The “light anime” centers on Kaede, an ordinary high school girl who unexpectedly finds herself reincarnated into a mysterious fantasy world. This new realm is bustling with various mythical creatures, including beastkin, elves, and dragons. During her struggle to navigate this unfamiliar land, Kaede discovers a peculiar book in her backpack that grants her the power to create potions by simply chanting “Create.” Armed with this newfound ability, Kaede endeavors to survive in this otherworld and ultimately find a way back to Japan.
Production Team and Studios
Mikiko Furukawa, known for directing Moriarty’s Perfect Crime, is helming the Potion, Waga Mi o Tasukeru “light anime” at IMAGICA Infos and Imageworks Studio. Studio KAIBA is credited with animation assistance. The production team also includes Yūichi Imaizumi as the sound director and bermei.inazawa composing the music. Kazuya Takahashi is overseeing the production.
What is a “Light Anime”?
As an “Animation ID” project, Potion, Waga Mi o Tasukeru is produced as a “light anime.” This format typically features a simpler animation style designed to reduce production time and costs. Other “light anime” titles from Animation ID include Lockdown Zone: Level X, Maarui Kanojo to Zannen na Kareshi, Moriarty’s Perfect Crime, and With Vengeance, Sincerely, Your Broken Saintess.
Source Material and Adaptations
The anime is based on Akira Iwafune’s Potion, Waga Mi o Tasukeru light novel series, which was originally serialized on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website from April 2014 to September 2024. Shufunotomo began publishing the print edition with illustrations by Yoshi Tobe in April 2015, with 10 volumes released to date. A manga adaptation by Tobe also launched on Shufunotomo’s Hero Comics website in September 2023.
