The irresistibly cute slime, Puniru, is making a grand return! The second season of the TV anime “Puniru is a Kawaii Slime” is set to premiere on July 6, 2025, bringing more heartwarming and hilarious moments to fans. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming season, from the new cast member to the opening song and broadcast details.

Broadcast Details

Mark your calendars! “Puniru is a Kawaii Slime” Season 2 will air every Sunday at 5:30 PM (JST) on TV Tokyo and its affiliates. This is a new time slot, moving from the first season’s late-night broadcast to a more family-friendly evening schedule.

New Key Visual

A brand-new key visual has been released, featuring Puniru, Kotaro, and the rest of the beloved characters. Excitingly, a new character named Jure also makes an appearance, sporting a mysterious smile that hints at the exciting developments to come in the second season.

New Cast Member: Sumire Uesaka as Jure

Adding to the excitement, Sumire Uesaka joins the cast as Jure, an artificial slime lifeform (gelloid) created by Dr. Mado. Jure is characterized as a “perfect AI” with a strong sense of pride.

Uesaka shared her enthusiasm for the role, saying, “I was so happy to be able to take part in the irresistibly cute world of ‘Puniru’! Jure stands out even among the interesting characters in the world of Puniru…! In many ways, there are lots of scenes that make you wonder if it can be broadcast in the evening! It’s the best!”

Regarding her role as Jure, she added, “Jure takes pride in being a perfect AI and is a character that is full of confidence and is fun to play! I will do my best to express Jure’s (self-proclaimed) adult charm!”

Opening Theme: “Brun-Brun” by Yu Sasahara

The opening theme for the second season is “Brun-Brun,” sung by Puniru’s voice actress, Yu Sasahara. The song is written, composed, and arranged by Izumi Mori, who also handled the music for the first season. A promotional video featuring the latest footage from the second season, including a preview of “Brun-Brun,” has been released.

Story

“Puniru is a Kawaii Slime” is a romantic comedy manga series by Maeda-kun, serialized on the “Weekly CoroCoro Comic” website. The story revolves around Kotaro, a middle school boy, and Puniru, a slime he created that unexpectedly came to life. Over the years, Puniru transforms into a beautiful girl with shape-shifting abilities, leading to hilarious and heartwarming situations as Kotaro navigates his feelings for his high school crush while dealing with Puniru’s antics.

Crunchyroll, which streams the first season, describes the story as follows: “Seven years ago, Kotaro made a slime that unexpectedly came to life. He named her Puniru, and they’ve been best friends ever since. The two have grown up a lot over the years, and Puniru is now a beautiful, carefree girl who can shapeshift into other cute forms. But with her spontaneous spirit and wild antics, Kotaro can never catch a break!”
