The latest installment of Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon Season 2, titled “The Clergyman and the Vending Machine,” aired on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. This episode shifts focus to the Origin Stratum of the dungeon, providing a crucial update on the situation outside the Clear Lake Stratum and introducing a significant new character.

Recapping the Journey to the Origin Stratum

Following the successful completion of the plan to plug the hole in the wall and repel the monster attack, Boxxo and his companions find themselves moving towards rebuilding efforts. With Hulemy now free to work on the teleportation gate, the group decides their best course of action is to travel to the Origin Stratum. This choice is strategic, as it’s the floor with a direct path to the surface and where the Menagerie of Fools had retreated after the initial troubles began.

The main trio—Boxxo, Lammis, and Hulemy—along with Mishuel, are chosen for this expedition. Their selection is based on their unique and complementary abilities: Hulemy’s expertise is vital for getting the two-way teleport gate operational, Boxxo provides an essential, near-infinite source of food and clean water, and Lammis possesses extraordinary physical strength. Mishuel accompanies them as Boxxo can only communicate with Lammis and him.

Introduction of Hevee: The Eccentric Clergyman

A central highlight of Episode 4 is the formal introduction of Hevee, a priest described as a master of illusion and mind manipulation magic, and a member of the Menagerie of Fools. Hevee, however, possesses a peculiar addiction to footwear, finding deep satisfaction in the journey and experience “told by the shoes,” even going so far as to drink from them. Despite his eccentricities, Hevee is portrayed as a highly competent healer with a pragmatically cold-hearted approach to problem-solving, capable of using invading monsters to eliminate violent prisoners. He also demonstrates remarkable skill in gathering and hiding large numbers of civilians from monsters using powerful illusions.

The episode explores the contrast between Hevee’s outward, often discomforting, obsession and Boxxo’s more internal, self-contained devotion to vending machines. While Boxxo keeps his fascination to himself, Hevee’s peculiar habits actively make others uneasy.

Plot Developments and Strategic Advancements

The episode reveals that the commander controlling the creatures that attacked the Clear Lake Stratum was the same individual responsible for the destruction of Lammis’ and Hulemy’s village and the death of Lammis’ parents. Boxxo, after apprehending this commander and threatening him with cola and mint, manages to make him release the Netherlord’s control over the monsters.

With Hevee’s support, the evacuation of the Origin Stratum becomes a more viable possibility. The narrative now hinges on Hulemy’s ability to activate the teleport gate before another major crisis unfolds.

The episode also subtly continues to develop the bond between Boxxo and Hulemy, emphasizing their burgeoning friendship and Hulemy’s quick understanding of Boxxo’s past life as a human. Lammis’ deep emotional connection to Boxxo is also reaffirmed, solidifying his importance in her life.

Fans in Japan can watch Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon Season 2 Episode 4 on Tokyo MX, BS NTV, and AT-X, with streaming available on d Anime Store and U-NEXT. Globally, the episode is available for streaming on Crunchyroll.
