The highly anticipated fourth season of the anime series Rent-a-Girlfriend (Kanojo, Okarishimasu) has released its main trailer, offering fans a glimpse into the upcoming story and previewing its opening theme song, “Umitsuki,” performed by the popular musical duo ClariS. The new season is officially slated to begin broadcasting on July 4, 2025, with Crunchyroll set to simulcast the series shortly after its Japanese premiere.
Return to the Rental Romance
Rent-a-Girlfriend Season 4 continues the romantic comedy saga based on Reiji Miyajima’s manga. The series follows college student Kazuya Kinoshita, whose life takes an unexpected turn when he employs the services of a “rental girlfriend,” Chizuru Mizuhara. What begins as a transactional relationship gradually evolves as Kazuya’s genuine feelings for Chizuru grow, leading to a complex web of fake dating, misunderstandings, and burgeoning emotions involving other characters like Mami Nanami, Ruka Sarashina, and Sumi Sakurasawa.
The new trailer for Season 4 highlights key moments, including Kazuya’s poolside dilemmas as he navigates his relationships with his ex-girlfriend, his tentative current girlfriend, and his rental girlfriend. The season is expected to cover the “Hawaiians arc” from the original manga, promising new settings and developments for the characters.
ClariS and Regal Lily Contribute New Themes
ClariS, known for their distinct musical style, performs the opening theme “Umitsuki.” This song marks a significant release for the duo, as it is their first anime tie-in song as a revamped three-member lineup, with members Clara, Ellie, and Anna. The members of ClariS also contributed to the lyrics of “Umitsuki,” aiming to resonate with Kazuya’s feelings and the summer broadcast period of the anime.
In addition to the opening, the ending theme song for Rent-a-Girlfriend Season 4 will be “Boku no Vega” (My Vega), performed by the band Regal Lily.
