Theme Songs Announced
The official website for Onmyō Kaiten Re:verse revealed the opening and ending theme songs along with a new key visual. The opening theme is titled “Cry Out Cry Over” and is performed by Who-ya Extended, the music unit fronted by vocalist Who-ya. The ending theme is “Turn Over,” sung by the distinctive singer 9Lana, known for their “chameleon voice.”

Onmyō Kaiten Re:verse is an original anime series created by Fujiko Sakuno, with Hideya Takahashi serving as the director and also credited with the original concept. The anime is being animated by David Production, the studio renowned for its work on JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Fire Force, Cells at Work!, and the recent Urusei Yatsura reboot.
The series is scheduled to premiere on July 2, 2025, at 23:45 JST (effectively July 3 at 12:45 a.m.) in Japan on Fuji TV’s +Ultra programming block. For international audiences, Crunchyroll will be streaming the series.
Plot Overview
Onmyō Kaiten Re:verse tells the story of Takeru Narihira, a delinquent high school student who finds himself transported to an alternate version of Heian-kyō (the old name of Kyoto) called Denji Heian-kyō. This alternate world is a technologically advanced version of the Heian era capital.
In Denji Heian-kyō, Takeru encounters Tsukimiya, a mysterious girl who has repeatedly appeared in his dreams. However, their meeting is short-lived as they are both killed by an Oni monster. Takeru then awakens to find himself back in Denji Heian-kyō, realizing he has the power to leap through time.
Determined to save Tsukimiya and prevent her death, Takeru resolves to learn the mystical arts of Onmyōjutsu and become an Onmyōji sorcerer. He trains with Abe no Seimei, a powerful Onmyōji, to fight against the dark forces threatening Denji Heian-kyō and protect the girl he is destined to save.
