The popular romantic comedy light novel series, “Rich Girl Caretaker” (Saijo no Osewa Takane no Hana darake na Meimonkou de, Gakuinichi no Ojosama (Seikatsu Noryoku Kaimu) o Kagenagara Osewa suru koto ni Narimashita), is officially receiving an anime adaptation. The announcement was made on Thursday, October 30, 2025, by Hobby Japan’s HJ Bunko label, confirming that an anime project is “in the works” for the series penned by Yusaku Sakaishi.
The Story of “Rich Girl Caretaker”
Authored by Yusaku Sakaishi and illustrated by Sakura Miwabe, “Rich Girl Caretaker” is a romantic comedy centered around a unique dynamic. The story follows Itsuki Tomonari, a high school boy who, after an unexpected entanglement in a kidnapping incident, finds himself becoming the caretaker for Hinako Konohana. Hinako, a young lady from one of Japan’s most prominent conglomerates, appears to be the epitome of perfection at school – brilliant and charming. However, this outward facade hides a significant secret: in reality, she is remarkably lazy and possesses virtually no life skills.
Due to intricate family circumstances, Hinako is compelled to maintain her image as the “perfect young lady” while at school. Itsuki, driven by a desire to protect her, diligently takes on the role of her attentive caretaker. This arrangement eventually leads to Hinako developing strong affections for Itsuki, leading to a love story that transcends their master-servant relationship.
Publication History and Manga Adaptation
The “Rich Girl Caretaker” series originally began as a self-published work by Yusaku Sakaishi on the Shosetsuka ni Naro platform in April 2020. Hobby Japan later picked up the series, publishing it under their HJ Bunko imprint starting in May 2021. As of October 31, 2025, the series is set to release its 11th volume. For international readers, Spain-based Monogatari Novels announced their license of the series for English publication in October 2023.
Beyond the light novels, the series has also inspired a manga adaptation, illustrated by Sorahiko Mizushima, which is currently serialized in Comic Fire magazine.
What to Expect from the Anime
While specific details such as the animation studio, staff, voice cast, and release window for the “Rich Girl Caretaker” anime have not yet been disclosed, the confirmation of the project has generated excitement among fans of the light novel and manga. The announcement signifies the growing popularity of the “rich girl caretaker” trope in romantic comedy narratives, promising a delightful adaptation of Itsuki and Hinako’s endearing relationship.
It is worth noting that another popular series featuring a “rich girl and caretaker” theme, “A Girl & Her Guard Dog” (Ojou to Banken-kun), already received an anime adaptation that aired in the Fall 2023 season. This earlier adaptation, which concluded its 13-episode run in December 2023, followed Isaku Senagaki, the granddaughter of a yakuza boss, and her overprotective bodyguard, Keiya, as he enrolls in her high school to keep her safe. The new announcement for “Rich Girl Caretaker” highlights the continued appeal of these charming and often comedic dynamics within the anime community.
