The highly anticipated dark fantasy yuri anime series, Roll Over and Die: I Will Fight for an Ordinary Life with My Love and Cursed Sword!, has announced its official premiere date of January 8. A new promotional video has been released, offering a glimpse into the series and previewing its ending theme song, “I need,” performed by Yuki Tanaka.
Anime Adaptation Details and Premiere
The Roll Over and Die anime is set to begin its broadcast on January 8, with some reports also indicating a January 9, 2026 debut on platforms like Tokyo MX and BS11. The series, produced by A.C.G.T, has generated considerable buzz since its announcement in April 2025. Nobuharu Kamanaka is directing the adaptation, with Mariko Kunisawa handling the series composition, and Ryo Takahashi composing the music.

The ending theme, “I need,” is performed by Yuki Tanaka. The song’s lyrics were penned by Masami Okui, with Tomoya Kinoshita handling the composition and arrangement.
Opening Theme: “Liberator” by PassCode
Earlier announcements confirmed that the opening theme song for Roll Over and Die will be “Liberator,” performed by the Japanese metal idol group PassCode. Hirachi Koji composed and arranged the opening track, with ucio and Konnie Aoki credited for the lyrics.
Unveiling the Story and Characters
Roll Over and Die is based on the light novel series written by kiki and illustrated by Kinta, which originated as a web novel in 2018. Seven Seas Entertainment, which publishes the English version of the light novels and the manga adaptation, describes the dark fantasy yuri narrative.
A Grimdark Quest for Retribution
The story centers on Flum Apricot, a protagonist with seemingly “zero stats” and a dormant power she cannot initially use. Despite being chosen for a hero’s party, Flum is betrayed by the renowned sage Jean Inteige and sold into slavery. Thrown to monsters, Flum’s life takes a desperate turn when she grasps a cursed weapon, awakening a new, formidable power within her. The series follows her “blood-soaked quest to reclaim her life.”
Key Voice Cast
The anime features a talented voice cast bringing the characters to life. Ayaka Nanase stars as the main character, Flum Apricot. Other announced cast members include Machico as Sara Anvilen, Masakazu Morita as Dein Phineas, and Honoka Inoue as Y’lla Jelici. The legendary Kikuko Inoue is also part of the cast, serving as the narrator for the series.
