The upcoming TV anime adaptation of the dark fantasy series, Roll Over and Die: I Will Fight for an Ordinary Life with My Love and Cursed Sword!, has unveiled its main cast and production staff. The announcement comes alongside a new teaser trailer that offers a glimpse into the anime’s premise ahead of its scheduled premiere in 2026.

Unveiling the Voice Cast

Leading the voice cast for Roll Over and Die is Ayaka Nanase, who will portray the protagonist, Flum Apricot. Flum is a character initially introduced as having “zero stats across the board and a power she can’t even use,” who is betrayed and sold into slavery. Her journey begins when she gets her hands on a cursed sword, awakening her true “Reversal” ability.

Other newly announced cast members include:

  • Miku Itō as Milkit, a young girl Flum encounters after being sold to a slave merchant.
  • Miki Kariya as Cyrill Sweechka, a character possessing the rare “Hero” attribute and high stats.
  • Makoto Yasumura as Jean Inteige, the renowned sage who betrays Flum. Jean can utilize four elemental magics thanks to the “Nature” attribute.
  • Misaki Kuno as Eterna Rinebow, a water-element magic user with medical knowledge.
  • Takaya Kuroda as Gadhio Lathcutt, an S-rank adventurer specializing in earth-element magic.
  • Aya Endō as Maria Afenjuns, a nun from the Origin Church who wields light-element magic.
  • Jin Ogasawara as Linus Radiants, another S-rank adventurer, skilled in wind-element magic.

Behind the Scenes: The Production Staff

The anime is being directed by Nobuharu Kamanaka at animation studio ACGT. Kamanaka is known for his work on series such as A Certain Scientific Accelerator and Detective Conan.

The series composition will be handled by Mariko Kunisawa, recognized for her contributions to Ascendance of a Bookworm.

Character designs are a collaborative effort by Miki Matsumoto, Fumio Matsumoto, Takashi Fukuyo, and Takafumi Furusawa. Miki Matsumoto has previously worked on Summer Time Rendering, Fumio Matsumoto on Orient, and Takafumi Furusawa on Berserk of Gluttony.

The Story of Roll Over and Die

The Roll Over and Die anime is based on the light novel series written by Kiki and illustrated by Kinta (with kodamazon illustrating from the fifth volume onwards). The series initially began as a web novel on Shosetsuka ni Naro in January 2018 before being acquired by Micro Magazine. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the light novels and a manga adaptation by Sunao Minakata in English.

The narrative follows Flum Apricot, who, despite having an unusual “Reversal” ability that leaves her with seemingly useless stats, is chosen to join a hero’s party to defeat the Demon Lord. However, she is betrayed by her party’s sage, Jean Inteige, and sold into slavery. Thrown to monsters with only a cursed sword, Flum finally understands her unique power, leading to a “Reversal” of her fate alongside her new companion, Milkit. The series is described as a grimdark tale focusing on Flum’s “blood-soaked quest to reclaim her life.”

The anime is set to broadcast in 2026.
