The highly anticipated television anime adaptation of kiki and Kinta’s dark yuri fantasy light novel series, ROLL OVER AND DIE: I Will Fight for an Ordinary Life with My Love and Cursed Sword!, has revealed its first promotional video, a key visual, and a main cast member. The series is set to premiere in 2026.
A Glimpse into Flum’s Grim Journey
The newly released promotional video offers viewers an initial look into the grim world of Roll Over and Die. It provides a visual and atmospheric preview of the anime, which chronicles the brutal journey of Flum Apricot. The video highlights the series’ dark fantasy elements and hints at the intense struggles Flum will face.
Ayaka Nanase Cast as Flum Apricot
The primary cast announcement confirms that Ayaka Nanase will voice the protagonist, Flum Apricot. Flum is a character described as having zero stats and a seemingly useless power called “Reversal.” Despite being chosen by divine prophecy, she is betrayed by her hero party and sold into slavery, leading her to awaken a new, dangerous power. Nanase shared her impressions of the work, stating that she was captivated by Flum’s desperate struggle for survival and praised the story as “one-of-a-kind.” She also expressed her enthusiasm for portraying Flum’s multifaceted nature, including her strength in battle and her moments as a regular girl.
First Key Visual Released
Accompanying the promotional video and cast announcement, the first key visual for the anime has also been unveiled. This visual aims to capture the essence and tone of the original Japanese title, which translates to “Do You Really Think Someone Like You Can Defeat the Demon Lord?” The visual features Flum Apricot, hinting at the challenging and “grimdark” narrative awaiting audiences.

ROLL OVER AND DIE: I Will Fight for an Ordinary Life with My Love and Cursed Sword! originated as a web novel by kiki on Shosetsuka ni Naro in January 2018. Micro Magazine later acquired the series, publishing it under their GC Novels imprint starting in July 2018 with illustrations by Kinta. Seven Seas Entertainment handles the English release of both the light novels and the manga adaptation, illustrated by Sunao Minakata. The story follows Flum Apricot, a weak girl with a “Reversal” ability, who, after betrayal and enslavement, discovers her true power and embarks on a brutal quest for survival and a peaceful life with her companion Milkit. The series is known for its intense violence, body horror, and a raw, desperate tone, setting it apart from typical overpowered protagonist narratives.
