Ryōsuke Takeuchi, widely known for his work on the popular mystery manga Moriarty the Patriot, is set to launch a new series titled Ao no Kotae (Ao’s Solution, or Ao no Kai). The announcement comes from Shueisha’s Jump SQ. magazine, revealing that the new manga will debut in the magazine’s upcoming issue on February 4.
Takeuchi will be penning the story, while Masaru Miyokawa will handle the artwork. This collaboration marks a reunion for the duo, who previously worked together on the manga St&rs.
Delving into Ao no Kotae: A Teenage Spy Action Story
Ao no Kotae is described as a thrilling teenage spy action story. The narrative will center on a protagonist named Ao, a high school student who finds himself constantly entangled in various problems. Readers can anticipate a color opening page for the new series, adding to its anticipated debut.
Ryōsuke Takeuchi’s Acclaimed Background with Moriarty the Patriot
Takeuchi has garnered significant recognition as the storyboard writer for Moriarty the Patriot (Yūkoku no Moriarty), which features art by Hikaru Miyoshi. This series, based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes novels and focusing on Holmes’ archnemesis, William James Moriarty, began its serialization in Jump SQ. magazine in August 2016.
The first part of Moriarty the Patriot concluded in December 2022. Following a spin-off series, Moriarty the Patriot: The Remains (written by Yosuke Saita and illustrated by Hikaru Miyoshi), the main Moriarty the Patriot manga launched its highly anticipated second part in December 2024. Viz Media licenses the Moriarty the Patriot manga for English release, and the series also inspired a successful anime adaptation that premiered in October 2020.
Takeuchi’s other notable works include providing storyboards for All You Need Is Kill, with art by Takeshi Obata. His consistent involvement in diverse and engaging manga projects has cemented his reputation as a versatile storyteller in the industry.
