A manga adaptation of Saki Ichibu’s popular light novel series, Hametsu o Hikaeta Akuyaku Reijō ga Muri Shite Heroine wo Enjita Kekka ~Taida na Yosei ga Akogare Nanoni, Daini Ōji no Dekiai Route ni Konwakuchū~ (The Evil Villainess Who Managed to Avoid Her Own Downfall is Forced to Become the Heroine ~Despite Wanting to Live Out the Rest of Her Days in Peace, She Still Gets on the Route to Having the Second Prince’s Affections~), has officially launched. The new manga, illustrated by Tamago Aoi, began serialization on Shogakukan’s Manga ONE website on Saturday, November 5, 2025.
A New Lease on Life as a Villainess
The story centers around a woman who, after enduring a demanding previous life working for an exploitative company, finds herself reincarnated into the world of an otome game. Her new identity is that of Seraphina, the designated villainess of the game. Exhausted by her past experiences, Seraphina’s primary goal in this new existence is to embrace a life of peace and idleness, doing just enough to prevent the catastrophic downfall predicted for her character in the game. Her ideal day involves as much sleep as possible and avoiding any strenuous activity.
Unexpected Romance on the Path to Idleness
Despite Seraphina’s best efforts to maintain a low profile and achieve a tranquil, unassuming life, her actions inadvertently lead to unforeseen consequences. In her quest for a quiet existence, she somehow begins accumulating “affection points” from the various characters around her, a critical mechanic in otome games that typically leads to romantic entanglement. Much to her bewilderment, Seraphina finds herself drawn into a romance route, despite her initial desires to simply live out her days in peace and quiet, far from the dramatic machinations of a heroine.
The Origin of the Series: Light Novel Publication
The original light novel series, which inspired this new manga adaptation, was penned by Saki Ichibu. The first volume of Hametsu o Hikaeta Akuyaku Reijō ga Muri Shite Heroine wo Enjita Kekka was published by Starts Publishing in December 2023. The narrative’s unique blend of a transmigration theme, a protagonist seeking a laid-back life, and accidental romance has resonated with readers, paving the way for its expansion into the manga format.
Fans of “villainess” and “isekai” (other world) genres, particularly those with a humorous and romantic twist, can now follow Seraphina’s reluctant journey on Shogakukan’s Manga ONE website.
