The highly anticipated third season of the anime series Record of Ragnarok (also known as Shūmatsu no Walküre) has officially announced that popular singer and voice actress Saori Hayami will perform its ending theme song. The track, titled “Last breath, Last record,” features lyrics written by Hayami herself, designed to resonate with the anime’s intense worldview. The new season is slated to debut on Netflix in December 2025.

A New Voice for Humanity’s Battle

The revelation of Saori Hayami as the ending theme artist adds another layer of excitement for fans eagerly awaiting Record of Ragnarok III. Hayami is a well-known name in the anime industry, celebrated for both her extensive voice acting career and her musical contributions to various series. Her involvement suggests a powerful and fitting close to each episode of the forthcoming season.

“Last breath, Last record” Reflects Anime’s Worldview

The title “Last breath, Last record” strongly aligns with Record of Ragnarok‘s central premise: a series of decisive battles between humanity’s strongest historical figures and powerful gods to determine the fate of mankind. Hayami’s direct involvement in penning the lyrics for the song ensures a deep connection to the narrative, promising an emotionally resonant experience for viewers. This personal touch from an artist who understands the anime medium is often highly appreciated by fans.

Record of Ragnarok Season 3 Production Details

The third season continues the epic saga of 13 one-on-one battles for humanity’s survival, specifically focusing on the pivotal seventh battle, which aims to break the 3-3 tie between gods and humans.

Key Staff and Studio Changes

Record of Ragnarok III will see a shift in its production team and animation studios. Kōichi Hatsumi, known for his work on Tokyo Revengers, is directing the new season at Yumeta Company and MARU Animation. Yasuyuki Mutō returns as the main writer, while Yōko Tanabe and Hisashi Kawashima are new character designers. Yasuharu Takanashi is returning to compose the music, ensuring continuity in the series’ distinctive sound. Previous seasons were animated by Graphinica, with Yumeta Company co-producing Season 2.

Anticipated Battles and Cast Additions

The upcoming season will feature highly anticipated confrontations. New cast members have been announced, including Makoto Furukawa as Nikola Tesla, Daisuke Namikawa as Beelzebub, Hiroshi Shirokuma as King Leonidas, and Kenichi Suzumura as Apollo, hinting at the key battles to be adapted. The manga’s narrative suggests future rounds will include Nikola Tesla facing Beelzebub, and Leonidas challenging Apollo.

Saori Hayami’s Extensive Musical and Voice Acting Career

Saori Hayami has contributed to numerous anime projects both as a voice actress and a singer. Her previous works include voicing popular characters such as Shinobu Kocho in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Yor Forger in Spy × Family, and Yamato in One Piece. Her musical career has seen her release several singles and albums, with songs often featured as opening or ending themes for various anime series. Notably, she also wrote lyrics for her debut single, “Yasashii Kibou,” which served as the opening theme for Snow White with the Red Hair.

The announcement of her performing the Record of Ragnarok Season 3 ending song comes as she approaches her 10th anniversary as an artist, with a special concert, “HAYAPOP,” scheduled for September 21 JST to commemorate the milestone.

Release on Netflix

Record of Ragnarok has consistently been released on Netflix, with the first season premiering in June 2021 and the second season released in two parts in January and July 2023. The third season will continue this pattern, being exclusively available on the streaming platform in December 2025. This global accessibility has contributed to the series’ widespread popularity, with the second season ranking in Netflix’s Weekly Global Top 10 in 84 countries.
