Satsuki Nakamura, in collaboration with Manasuke, Natsuo Kume, and Kaori Saki, has launched a new manga series titled Akujo ni Shitette Itta Jan! Namida (I Told You to Make Me Into a Wicked Woman! Crying) on Shueisha’s Jump Toon vertical-scrolling web manga service. The news was unveiled in this year’s 49th issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. This addition signals a continued expansion of original content on Shueisha’s mobile-optimized platform.

Akujo ni Shitette Itta Jan! Namida Joins Jump Toon Lineup

The newly launched series, Akujo ni Shitette Itta Jan! Namida, features Satsuki Nakamura as one of the key creative talents, alongside Manasuke, Natsuo Kume, and Kaori Saki. The title, which translates to “I Told You to Make Me Into a Wicked Woman! Crying,” suggests a dramatic and potentially emotional narrative tailored for the vertical-scrolling format. Jump Toon specializes in web manga designed for smartphone viewing, offering a full-color, vertically scrolling experience distinct from traditional manga layouts.

Jump Toon’s Expanding Content Catalog

The introduction of Akujo ni Shitette Itta Jan! Namida follows a wave of new series that debuted on Jump Toon in recent months. The 38th issue of Weekly Shonen Jump earlier revealed five other new manga series that commenced serialization on the platform in August and September. These titles include:

  • Seirei Meikyū no Shinen wo Koete: A supernatural labyrinth adventure by Nora Kohigashi (story) and Moa (art), which launched on August 28.
  • Satsujin Reijō Charlotte: A dark fantasy thriller penned by Ko Hiratori with art by Lemon Natsume, premiering on August 30.
  • Watashi no Naka ni Keikoku no Akujo ga Imasu ga, Zettai ni Kuni wa Horoboshimasen!: A comedic fantasy collaboration by Ayumi Sehira and Shueisha TOON FACTORY, which debuted on September 4.
  • Zettai Ōja no Kikan: An action-packed return saga conceived by Manimani Ononata with illustrations by NCOMIC, released on September 7.
  • Battle Aristocracy: A strategic combat narrative from Ko Hiratori, featuring artwork by Naoki Konno and UNO STUDIO, which started on September 8.

In addition to these original series, Jump Toon also began publishing a vertical, full-color version of Naoya Matsumoto’s popular Kaiju No. 8 manga starting September 1, further diversifying its offerings.

Shueisha’s Strategy in the Vertical Manga Market

Jump Toon, launched by Shueisha in 2024, represents the publisher’s strategic entry into the rapidly growing vertical-scrolling manga market. This platform aims to adapt traditional manga storytelling to the mobile-first consumption habits of a global audience. The service was established with an eye toward capturing a share of the vertical manga industry, which is projected to surpass 27.5 billion US dollars globally by 2028.

Shueisha has also actively encouraged new talent through initiatives like the “Jump Toon Award,” offering winning submissions a serialization contract and a monetary prize. This forward-thinking approach underscores the company’s commitment to evolving with the digital landscape of comics.

Satsuki Nakamura’s Notable Works

Satsuki Nakamura is known for their contributions to the manga and light novel landscape, including the popular series Though I Am an Inept Villainess: Tale of the Butterfly-Rat Body Swap in the Maiden Court. This work has been released in both light novel and manga formats, demonstrating Nakamura’s experience in crafting engaging narratives for diverse media. Their involvement in Akujo ni Shitette Itta Jan! Namida further highlights their versatility and continued relevance in the dynamic manga industry.
