Seven Seas Entertainment has announced the acquisition of four new manga and light novel series, including the highly anticipated I’m Fine With Being the Second Girlfriend manga and Printernia Nippon manga. The other newly licensed titles are Al the Adventurer: That Magic Shouldn’t Work! (manga and light novel) and Space Orc: Barbarian Raider of the Stars, Aiming for the Queen! (light novel). The announcements were made on September 24, 2025, detailing the premises, creators, and initial release windows for each series.
I’m Fine With Being the Second Girlfriend (Manga)
Seven Seas, through its Ghost Ship imprint targeting older male readers, has licensed the manga series I’m Fine With Being the Second Girlfriend, written by Ninoko and illustrated by Jōyō Nishi. This romance explores the complicated relationship between Shirou Kirishima and Akane Hayasaka, who engage in a secret romance despite both harboring feelings for other people. Their agreement dictates that their clandestine affair will end if either’s feelings become mutual with their “first choice.” However, as they grow closer, their arrangement begins to blur the lines between their initial intentions and genuine affection.
The series delves into themes of settling for “second best” and the unexpected depth that can develop in such relationships. The first volume of the I’m Fine With Being the Second Girlfriend manga is slated for release in July 2026.
Printernia Nippon (Manga)
Seven Seas Entertainment is bringing Maigo’s Printernia Nippon manga series to English-speaking audiences. This cozy science fiction story is set in a near-future Japan where advancements include the ability to print companion creatures. The narrative follows Sato, who, while attempting to print a Shiba Inu, accidentally creates an entirely new and unusual creature. Despite not knowing how to care for his unique, loaf-shaped pet, affectionately named “Mochimochi” by his friend, Sato becomes endeared to it.
The first volume of Printernia Nippon is scheduled for release in September 2026.
Al the Adventurer: That Magic Shouldn’t Work! (Manga & Light Novel)
Both the manga and light novel series for Al the Adventurer: That Magic Shouldn’t Work! have been licensed by Seven Seas. The light novel is written by Lemon and the manga illustrated by Toko Yamazaki with original character designs by sime. The story centers on Al, a young man who, fascinated by magic after a childhood rescue, dedicates himself to mastering it. His journey to become an adventurer and find the “Book of Spells” reveals that his magical techniques are far from conventional.
This fantasy adventure explores whether Al’s unique approach to magic will lead him to heroism or cut his quest short. Release dates for the light novel and manga volumes are yet to be announced, but the acquisition was made on September 24, 2025.
Space Orc: Barbarian Raider of the Stars, Aiming for the Queen! (Light Novel)
From its Airship imprint, Seven Seas has also acquired the light novel series Space Orc: Barbarian Raider of the Stars, Aiming for the Queen!, penned by Kuruma Hino and illustrated by Butcha-U. This sci-fi adventure introduces Kurtz, an orc barbarian from the warrior Ton-Tekin clan in a galaxy-spanning future where humanity has expanded into the stars. Despite his low birth, Kurtz gains recognition from the beautiful Queen Malya and affection from Princess Pika. His ultimate desire, however, is to win Queen Malya’s heart and make her his bride, leading him on a galactic rampage.
Volume 1 of Space Orc: Barbarian Raider of the Stars, Aiming for the Queen! is set to be released in August 2026.
