The highly anticipated anime adaptation of Matsuri Isora and Nanna Fujimi’s “Silent Witch” (also known as “Secrets of the Silent Witch: Chinmoku no Majo no Kakushigoto”) light novel series has recently unveiled its first three minutes of footage, introduced a new cast member, and provided details on its opening theme song. The series is set to premiere on July 4, 2025, broadcasting on channels such as Tokyo MX, Tochigi TV, Gunma TV, and BS11 in Japan, with Crunchyroll streaming the series internationally.
First Glimpse: A Three-Minute Preview
Aniplex officially released a three-minute preview of the anime’s first episode, offering fans an early look into the magical world of Monica Everett. This sneak peek primarily features interactions between the protagonist, Monica, and another character named Annie, alongside a brief appearance from Louis Miller. The preview highlights the distinctive animation style of Studio Gokumi, which is helming the production, with Yasuo Iwamoto directing and Takaomi Kanasaki serving as chief director, series composer, and script supervisor.
A New Voice Joins the Ranks
Adding to the growing ensemble of voice actors, Ai Kayano has been announced as the new cast member, taking on the role of Claudia. Kayano joins an already established cast that includes Saya Aizawa as the protagonist Monica Everett, Hitomi Nabatame as Nero, Junichi Suwabe as Louis Miller, Atsumi Tanezaki as Isabelle Norton, and Shōgo Sakata as Felix Arc Ridill, among others. Claudia is featured in a new special visual released alongside these announcements, appearing with Monica, Lana Collette, Isabelle Norton, and Casey Grove.
The Melodies of “Feel”
The opening theme song for “Silent Witch” has been revealed as “Feel,” performed by the alternative rock band hitsujibungaku. The band will also perform the ending theme song titled “mild days.” “Feel” is scheduled to begin streaming in Japan on July 4, coinciding with the anime’s debut. The selection of hitsujibungaku for both theme songs sets a distinct musical tone for the series, aiming to complement its unique narrative.
The “Silent Witch” anime is based on the popular light novel series, which began on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in February 2020 before being published by Kadokawa. Yen Press has licensed the novels for English release under the title “Secrets of the Silent Witch.” The story centers on Monica Everett, the “Silent Witch,” renowned as the world’s sole practitioner of voiceless magic and a heroine credited with single-handedly fending off a legendary Black Dragon. However, beneath her powerful facade, Monica is profoundly shy, having developed voiceless magic specifically to avoid public speaking. Her quiet life is disrupted when she is tasked with a top-secret mission: to discreetly guard the Second Prince, Felix Arc Ridill, at the prestigious Serendia Academy.
