The highly anticipated anime adaptation of Matsuri Isora and Nanna Fujimi’s light novel series, Silent Witch: Chinmoku no Majo no Kakushigoto, has offered fans an exciting preview with the release of its first three minutes of footage. This initial glimpse was part of a recent livestream event by Aniplex, which also revealed a new cast member and details regarding the opening theme song. The series is set to premiere on July 4, 2025, airing on channels such as Tokyo MX, Tochigi TV, Gunma TV, and BS11, and will also be available for streaming on Crunchyroll worldwide.
A Sneak Peek into Monica Everett’s World
The released three-minute preview offers an early look at the anime’s animation quality and introduces viewers to the protagonist, Monica Everett, a character renowned as the “Silent Witch.” The preview features a conversation between Monica and Annie, alongside a brief appearance by Louis. Monica Everett is portrayed as a prodigy who single-handedly defeated a legendary black dragon using “Voiceless Magic,” a unique form of magic she mastered due to her extreme shyness and desire to avoid speaking in public. Despite her immense power, Monica struggles with social anxiety and a lack of self-confidence. Her current mission, a top-secret assignment from the Seven Sages, involves secretly guarding the Second Prince, Felix Arc Ridill, who attends Serendia Academy, a prestigious boarding school.
New Additions to the Voice Cast
Adding to the already announced ensemble, Ai Kayano has joined the cast to voice the character Claudia, described as a “walking library.” Claudia’s visual was also revealed alongside this announcement. Previously announced cast members include Saya Aizawa as Monica Everett, Hitomi Nabatame as Nero, Junichi Suwabe as Louis Miller, Shogo Sakata as Felix Arc Ridill, Atsumi Tanezaki as Isabelle Norton, Kanna Nakamura as Lana Colette, Yoshiki Nakajima as Cyril Ashley, Ryōhei Kimura as Elliott Howard, Yuki Sakakihara as Neil Clay Maywood, Yoko Hikasa as Bridget Greyham, M.A.O as Rynzbelfeid, and Hina Sugita as Casey Grove. Shunichi Toki is also listed as voicing a mysterious, unnamed character.
The Melodies of Silent Witch
The alternative rock band Hitsujibungaku will perform both the opening and ending theme songs for Silent Witch. The opening theme song is titled “Feel” and is scheduled to begin streaming in Japan on July 4, 2025. Hitsujibungaku is also responsible for the ending theme song, “mild days.”
Production and Source Material
The anime is being produced by Studio Gokumi, with Takaomi Kanasaki serving as chief director, screenwriter, and script supervisor, and Yasuo Iwamoto as the director. Cona Nitanda is handling the character designs for the anime. The music is composed by Cygames and Rina Tayama.
The Silent Witch anime is an adaptation of the popular light novel series penned by Matsuri Isora and illustrated by Nanna Fujimi. The original novels began as a web novel on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in February 2020. Kadokawa began publishing the light novels in June 2021, with the ninth volume released in February 2025 and the tenth volume slated for release in July 2025. Yen Press has licensed the novels for English release under the title Secrets of the Silent Witch, and they also publish the manga adaptation by Tobi Tana. A two-volume prequel novel series, Silent Witch -another- Kekkai no Majutsushi no Nariagari, has also been released.
