‘Call of the Night’ Season 2: What’s New?

Release Date

Mark your calendars! Call of the Night Season 2 is scheduled to premiere in July 2025.

New Visuals and Trailers

A teaser trailer and key visual have been released, offering a glimpse into the upcoming season. The trailer teases the central conflict of Ko needing to fall in love with Nazuna to become a vampire, while also highlighting new characters and potential threats. The key visual showcases Nazuna and Ko amidst the series’ signature nighttime aesthetic.

New Cast Member

Rina Sato, known for her role as Mikoto in A Certain Scientific Railgun, joins the cast as Kiku Hoshimi, a new vampire character.

What to Expect From Season 2

Plot

Season 2 will likely continue the story from where the first season left off, adapting volumes 6-10 of the manga. The main storyline revolves around Ko Yamori, a middle schooler who becomes fascinated with the night and the vampire Nazuna Nanakusa. To become a vampire himself, Ko must fall in love with Nazuna.

New challenges and characters will emerge. Detective Anko Uguisu, an anti-vampire, poses a threat to Nazuna, while Ko grapples with his feelings and the appearance of a childhood friend. The vampires will also be trying to eliminate their weaknesses based on attachments to things from when they were human. Nazuna, however, has no memory of her human life, so her hidden past may be explored.

About ‘Call of the Night’

Call of the Night is based on the manga series by Kotoyama, which ran from August 2019 to January 2024. The manga won the 68th Shogakukan Manga Award for the shōnen category in 2023. Viz Media has licensed the manga for English release in North America.

The anime adaptation, produced by Liden Films, premiered in July 2022. The first season consisted of 13 episodes and was well-received by fans.

The series follows Ko Yamori, a young boy who is struggling with insomnia. One night, he meets Nazuna Nanakusa, a vampire who introduces him to the joys of the night. Fascinated by her lifestyle, Ko decides he wants to become a vampire, but to do so, he must fall in love with Nazuna.
