New Theme Songs Energize Second Cour
The second part of Yaiba: Samurai Legend will feature a revamped musical landscape, designed to amplify the excitement and emotional depth of the series.
- Opening Theme: Blue Encount, who performed the show’s initial opening theme “Blade,” returns with “Blade -Kizuna ver-“. This new version highlights the bonds Yaiba forms with his allies, reinforcing the theme that strength is amplified through camaraderie. Shunichi Tanabe, the band’s lead vocalist and guitarist, emphasized the importance of unity and support, mirroring the band’s own journey.
- Ending Theme: Kairi Yagi Denon Yuugi steps in with “Action!”, a song designed to inspire courage and propel listeners toward their futures. Kairi Yagi expressed that the song captures the passion and honesty of Yaiba’s adventures.
New Cast Member: Nadeshiko Arrives
Adding to the cast is Sayaka Senbongi, who will voice Nadeshiko Yamato, a character from Yaiba’s past. Nadeshiko met Yaiba during his jungle training and, believing in his promise to marry her once he becomes stronger, has dedicated herself to rigorous training. Now, having learned of Yaiba’s whereabouts, she sets out to reunite with him.
Senbongi shared her excitement about joining the series, expressing her dedication to portraying Nadeshiko’s unwavering feelings for Yaiba. Although Nadeshiko’s appearance is brief in the original manga, her role promises to add depth and emotional resonance to the anime.
What is Yaiba: Samurai Legend About?
Yaiba: Samurai Legend follows the journey of Yaiba Kurogane, a young samurai raised in the jungle who returns to Japan and begins living with the Mine family. His life takes a dramatic turn when he encounters Takeshi Onimaru, a kendo expert, setting off a fierce rivalry. As they clash, ancient powers awaken, drawing Yaiba into a world of mystical challenges and formidable foes.
The Main Characters
- Yaiba Kurogane: A spirited and somewhat reckless young samurai who spent his early years training in the jungle. He is determined to become a true samurai, and his journey is marked by constant battles and self-improvement. Voiced by Minami Takayama.
- Sayaka Mine: The daughter of the Mine family, who takes Yaiba into their home. She is often bewildered by Yaiba’s wild antics but gradually comes to support him. Voiced by Manaka Iwami.

A Brief History of Yaiba
Yaiba: Samurai Legend is based on the manga series by Gosho Aoyama, which ran from 1988 to 1993. An earlier anime adaptation, Kenyū Densetsu Yaiba, aired from 1993 to 1994. The current adaptation premiered on April 5, 2025, reigniting interest in this classic series.
