The popular manga series “Solo Camping for Two” (Futari Solo Camp), written and illustrated by Yūdai Debata, has announced an indefinite hiatus due to the author’s health concerns. The announcement was made in this year’s 32nd issue of Kodansha’s Morning magazine.
The magazine did not provide a specific date for the manga’s return, leaving fans awaiting further updates on Debata’s condition and the series’ resumption.
“Solo Camping for Two” follows the adventures of Gen Kinokura, a 34-year-old solo camper who prefers his own company in the wilderness, and Shizuku Kusano, a 20-year-old novice camper he unexpectedly encounters. The series explores themes of camping, nature, and the evolving relationship between the two main characters.
Initially serialized in Kodansha’s seinen manga magazine Evening from October 2018 to February 2023, the manga continued with special chapters on the Comic Days app before resuming in Morning magazine in December 2023. As of April 2025, the series has been collected into 20 tankōbon volumes and has garnered significant popularity, with over 3 million copies in circulation by November 2024. An anime television series adaptation is also scheduled to premiere in July 2025.
