Solo Leveling Season 2 -Arise from the Shadow- Episode 24 delivers intense action as Sung Jinwoo faces the formidable Ant King on Jeju Island, pushing his powers and strategic thinking to the limit. The episode, titled “Are You the King of Humans?”, adapts chapters 101 to mid-104 of the manhwa and has been highly anticipated by fans eager to see Jinwoo in action.

Jinwoo Enters the Fray

With the Korean Hunters struggling against the ant army and Goto Ryuji, the self-proclaimed “King of Humans,” falling to the Ant King’s might, Sung Jinwoo finally makes his entrance on Jeju Island. Having stayed behind to protect his recently awakened mother, Jinwoo sent his shadows ahead to assist the hunters.

A Swift Extermination

Jinwoo swiftly eliminates the swarm of winged ants upon arrival. He uses potions to heal the wounded S-Rank hunters, including Baek Yoonho, Choi Jong-in, Ma Dong-wook, and Lim Tae-Gyu. However, Cha Hae-in has sustained life-threatening injuries, and remains unconscious, even after Jinwoo’s healing attempts, adding urgency to the situation.

The Shadow Soldiers Arise

The episode showcases the strength of Jinwoo’s shadow soldiers. Igris, Tusk, Tank, and Iron join the battle, decimating the ant army and shocking the S-Rank hunters, who are exhausted and wounded. The hunters are stunned by the sudden appearance of these powerful shadow soldiers. Jinwoo orders his army to attack, clearing a path through the ant horde.

Face to Face with the Ant King

As the hunters prepare for an urgent escape from the island, a powerful presence blocks their path: the Black Ant, an incredibly strong, black-winged ant. The episode culminates in a face-off between Sung Jinwoo and the Ant King. The Ant King’s intelligence and raw power make him a formidable opponent, possibly the strongest Jinwoo has faced.

The Battle Begins

The fight between Jinwoo and the Ant King is a highlight of the episode, showcasing different combat styles. The two exchange blows, testing each other’s strength. Jinwoo utilizes his telekinetic powers, and the animation emphasizes the impact of their punches.

Stakes are High

Jinwoo realizes he needs to act quickly. Cha Hae-in’s condition puts a time limit on the battle, forcing him to take risks. He cannot afford a prolonged battle and must go all out.

Differences Between Anime and Manhwa

Some viewers noted differences between the anime adaptation and the original manhwa.

  • Beru’s Abilities: The anime expands on Beru’s abilities, allowing him to use more skills and consume more heads.
  • Jinwoo’s Struggle: The anime makes Jinwoo struggle slightly more against the Ant King compared to the manhwa, which some viewers appreciated.
  • S-Rank Hunters’ Relevance: Some changes were made to keep the S-Rank hunters somewhat relevant, as in the manhwa, they become largely passive observers.
  • Cameraman’s Thoughts: The anime omits a scene where the cameraman reflects on a conversation with his father.

Episode’s Impact and Reception

Episode 24 has generated considerable buzz and excitement among fans. It has been lauded as one of the best episodes of the season, with many praising the animation quality, the intensity of the fight scenes, and the strategic elements of the battle. Many fans are already calling the Jinwoo vs. Ant King fight one of the best fights of the year.

Cliffhanger and Anticipation

With only one episode remaining in the season, fans anticipate a cliffhanger ending, leaving them eager for the next installment. Some speculate that the fight between Jinwoo and the Ant King may extend into the season finale.

Where to Watch

“Solo Leveling” and its second season are available on Crunchyroll.
